CAMI & MARCEL BOARD FOR @kingofthecornermarcel
'To Cami- you will always be in my heart, in my mind, and in your grave.'

New Orleans was seeped in celebration --- if the city could find reasons to embrace excess and fill the streets with copious amounts of alcohol than it gladly did so.
It was a vampire’s paradise.
Klaus moved with ease through the crowd, ignoring the way people pressed against him. He could feel the heat radiating off them (no doubt most of them had been at it as soon as the sun dipped below the horizon). A few had stumbled and grabbed at him to stay on their feet. He had played the part of the dutiful gentleman, ensuring that they didn’t sink to the ground.
But make no mistake he was hunting.
Klaus had drank enough bourbon to feel it swim in his blood. He was no where near intoxicated but it dulled the edges a little --- kept him from pulling the first person who stepped into his path to the dark corners where they wouldn’t re-emerge.
He was vaguely aware of the music, the laughter. He was concentrating on one thing: the smell of blood (the promise of losing himself in something for only a moment). Suddenly he found himself at a dead stop. A drunk slammed into him and had choice words about the contact. He merely shoved back, feeling no sense of satisfaction when the man connected hard with the ground.
He knew that perfume.
It was light on the air, almost drowned out by everything else. However, for a man like him (possessing two distinct natures) it was easy to find. He turned his head and there she was.
It had been weeks since they had been this close. He couldn’t say that it had been weeks since he last laid eyes on her because that would be a lie. He had watched, at a respectable distance and hopefully just beyond what her senses were capable of. There was no hiding here --- despite the crowd, they were both out in the open.
Fueled by alcohol and the desire to rip into someone, he couldn’t help but throw caution to the wind.
“I trust this is a safe enough distance?”

It was the same glitched pause Mikael got when she called him out, and that Klaus got when she told him revenge wouldn't solve all his problems. A slip of the mask at an unexpected break in what they expected. That was someone who didn't know what to do with a genuine sentiment, and immediately snapped back against it; trying to get back on even-footing where he knew how to respond.
"To be honest, if that happened to me, maybe I'd turn up to burn the house down one day too." She didn't rise to the bait. If anything, if being met with the genuine gave him that much of a moment of trying to place it and work it out, it was a better weapon than rising to the rest of it. "I'm not here to be your therapist, though, sorry."
"I can be sorry that happened, and still think you're a dick, they're not mutually exclusive." A faint passing smile, even if it was true. Complicated didn't cancel everything else out, neither did trauma. It was what it was. Lucien was a classic narcissist, Aurora was... a lot of things, and Tristan- apparently- was someone who liked to have other people on the wrong foot.
Power and control. She chose not to shine a light on the glaring similarity to Elijah's way of interacting with the world.
"I can appreciate the building castles out it, taking power back." Head tilted and arms crossed loosely. Keep it up, I can do this all day, I regularly deal with Mikaelson drama. "What I don't get is how you think this all ends. Aurora's not magically going to get better if Klaus is out of the picture, you know that right? If I end up dead and they end up behind the boundary spell--" And maybe it would go that way. She doubted it, but it could. "You're still at square one, there. Which I guess I'm sorry about too, it must have been really stressful, hundreds of years without the resources to figure out how to help her."

"How is it I am the only woman in this house and also the only person capable of being emotionally intellegent?"

It turned out, that being Formally Dead, gave you quite a bit of leeway. If you figured out how to navigate it all. But this was the first time she had intervened with someone in between life and death. Mikael, had been easy. He was dead; she could navigate and architect better than him and get through to him eventually.
Not that time meant anything, in the scheme of things. Everything and nothing, at once.
"That's pretty." Her head tilted up, at the imaginary centuries old fireworks that weren't her own. Those were his. But still, there she stood, fitting in-- purple dress and hair pinned back, eyes turned up with a smile, in almost a millennia-gone France.
"Maybe one day, they will be able to do that everyday if they wanted to." They would. But her tone was light, slating a look at him between explosions in the sky. "Imagine that."
💋 (Finn @ Cami)
"Still fake." One hand still entwined in his and the other at his cheek, her tilt towards calling odd historical facts fake remained intact as she smiled widely. Trivial Pursuit with Elijah, the same playful disbelief rebranded into something much fonder on a Paris street now with Finn.
Leaving New Orleans had been the best decision she'd made to date. The space away from the constant dire drama had given them both the chance to figure out who they really were, and to find each other on the way.
"Vikings did not ski." On the breath of a laugh, her head tipped to kiss him again, then widening her eyes in mock-horror. "Are you telling me next time Mikael tries to kill me, I can just imagine him on skis? Because that would actually solve at least five of my problems."
