❝ if you weren’t here, i would have snapped. ❞
Addie looked into Callum's eyes as she spoke realizing that he was speaking the truth. She sighed and went back to bandaging his hand. Once she was finished she placed a light kiss on the top of his and turned away to repack the first aid kit. Addie felt his arms wrap around her waist and his head resting against the small of her back.
"I'm sorry." He whispered the heat of his breath seeping into her skin.'
"What did he say? What did he say that made you angry enough to almost kill him?" She asked letting her hand fall to rub gentle circles into the skin of his right arm.
"Nothing....nothing that you ever need to hear."
She froze in place knowing good and well that he had said something about her. Nothing else but someone speaking Ill of Izzy would make him turn with that much rage in his eyes and snatch someone up. Addie had been the D & D for the boy's night and when she had come to pick Callum up it seemed like something had just happened. She had ignored it when he said bye to the guys and bragged about the beauty who had come to get him because she didn't like sleeping alone. They had already been at the door when she thought she heard someone speaking. But that was before Callum covered her ears muffling the sound of the bar around them. Addie had turned to look up at him and was shocked that she couldn't recognize the man standing slightly behind her.
His hands dropped from her ears as he pushed her towards the door and instructed her to wait in the car. What she heard and saw after that made the color drain from her face. I wasn't until after the fifth or sixth punch and the sight of the blood that she snapped back into reality. Addie ran right into the middle of the bar fight yelling stop. Callum wasn't stopping instead one hand gripped the other man's collar while he continued to rain down punches the sound of wet flesh growing louder with each hit. Without thinking she grabbed his arm feeling him freeze the emotionless look on his face turning to confusion as he dropped the other man.
"What are you doing her babe?" Callum asked
It was a whirlwind of activity after that as his friends gathered them up and sent them home saying they would take care of things here. And not to worry.
Addie turned in his arms so that his face was pressed against her stomach, her hands sliding into his hair.
"Never again...please." She whispered
"I can't make a promise about my emotions but I'll try." He replied as he looked up at her with regret-filled eyes. Callum never wanted her to see him like that. Like some type of monster with no control over himself. But it had happened and all he could do now was try to make sure it never happened again.
