“Darren! Hey, Darren!” Lark waved, and jogged up to meet her old buddy Darren. They were never particularly close or anything, but she had met him a couple of years ago and thought he was pretty cool. It had been a while since she had seen the guy, and was not sure where he had gone off to (as she had not put two and two together to figure out Daniel had gone missing). “Long time no see! What’s been keeping you busy? Me, I’m almost done with my PhD program. June could not come fast enough. What about you, Darren? Where’ve you been all this time?”

Chloe would find it difficult to say that Daniel was a close to friend, but he was a good one all the same. In some of her more lucid moments in the Meadows, Chloe had wondered if they would have been even closer if not for the kidnapping. It was not difficult for her decide to pick up the friendship that was there again with the intention of making things better. On that day, she had decided to meet up with him for a quick juice. “To be honest, while a lot changes in a city after being away for five years, nothing much of importance really goes away. But England was lovely, and I’m glad to be back.” She sighed happily, and continued talking quickly. “I am deeply sorry that I wasn’t ready to pick up our friendship again after we got to see each other, but I’m genuinely glad to get to see you again now that there’s been some time between now and... then.” Then meaning the Meadows.
