Trying to come off as super poised and confident, Lark leaned against the wall with one hand. She felt unstable, but spoke anyway. “I’m hitting you up like three months late for a commission like we discussed at the ball, but I’m still interested nonetheless. How do you feel about designing something for me to wear for my- hopefully inevitable- graduation?” Lark figured that she could use all of the extrinsic motivation that she could get at this point. She was not super behind anymore, but she desperately wanted for everything to fall into place so she could finally figure out what a career was supposed to look like. “Like, it’s totally okay if you’re not game, but I thought it would be cool. Do you need a reminder? It was, well, kind of an overwhelming night.”
