“I didn’t even think a jacket like that would find its way here,” Nikhil commented, gesturing toward the other’s elaborate and glittery ensemble. He was... a little drunk at this point, and had forgotten about his insurance-based mission. “And you wear it well! And this may be a ridiculous, absolutely foolish question, but do you think that it would mess up those automatic sensors that turn on and off the lights? See, there was this automatic sink at my old workplace, and I swear it thought that I was invisible. But only to me. I was invisible to this sink. Have you ever been invisible to a sink?”

Tori considered herself a reasonable person- even a levelheaded one. She wasn’t really much for pride, but her penchant for calm in the face of most situations was something she considered intrinsic to her personality. Yeah, she got upset sometimes, but she found it relatively straightforward to channel her frustrations into a less tense focus. Right now, everything rational was off the books. Someone else nearby had literally just mentioned Mira Thompson, and she snapped at Kai, whom she had been having a perfectly normal conversation with in the library.

“Can you stop talking for a minute? Nobody cares about what you’re saying,” Tori told Kai, clenching her fists. She tried to listen in for mentions of Mira, but was getting nothing. This made her even more frustrated, and she wasn’t self-aware enough yet to regret saying something so mean and uncharacteristic.
