I don't think I'll get over it not being okay with Scott for Stiles to kill someone despite Scott working with the Alpha twins in a previous season AFTER the twins killed Boyd. I get that it was primarily an issue of shitty writing and lack of continuity in Scott's characterization, but even Scott stans meta that Stiles was an awful person for killing Donovan and "attacking Scott" -- BUT Scott working with the twins was A-OK????? Even after they murdered Boyd??? (and Erica for that matter).
UGH I’ll just never liked the twins at all. Like people will argue that they are abuse victims and redeemed themselves or something but for me there was never enough on-screen development to ever get to like them. I hated that Lydia kept screwing Aidan despite not wanting to be with the ‘bad guys’. They literally watched them murder Boyd and using Derek for it. Even if I had to work with them to survive, I'd make sure to give them side eye and not forgive them. You know, kinda like Stiles did with Theo?
But hey, Scott has a thing for working with villains. Maybe cause it’s easier if you can get other peoples hands bloody?
He had felt the pain from the other side of town. At first it was just little things, and he assumed that Kali was training with someone -- Boyd or the twins perhaps -- but then the pain got worse and worse until he had to grip something because he nearly blacked out. Suddenly, the connection he had with Kali seemed to go on radio silence. His heart rate picked up and he didn't hesitate to pull out his cell phone as he called Kali's phone as he made his way to the car.
When he got no answer, Deucalion had called Charlotte, speeding down the streets towards the pack house. As soon as she had answered, he had barked out, "Where is Kali?"
Charlotte had been sobbing on the other side, choking out words in between gasps. "We were-- Training and she told me-- That we were going to do target practice-- I didn't mean to-- She just-- She's not waking up, Deuce. My grandma--"
"What happened?!" He had growled, his control slipping due to the knowledge that something happened to his mate, something that caused her not to wake up. Deucalion knew that she wasn't dead. No, he would know for sure if she were dead. This was just a hollow feeling.
Charlotte continued to cry for a moment longer before managing to say, "I hit her with a spell and-"
Deucalion let out another growl, this one loud and sounding more feral than the first one. "Why were you aiming spells at her?! Goddammit, Charlotte!" And then he ended the call and threw his phone into the passenger seat without care to the force of the throw.
Kali was hurt. Kali wasn't waking up. Kali might not wake up. Kali could possibly die. That was Deucalion's train of thought as he clenched the steering wheel tighter and continued his speed of twenty miles over the limit. If a cop were to even try to stop him, he might pull over just to rip their throat out for slowing him down. His mind flashed to the conversation he had with Isolde about emotions and the times they didn't have any control over them. If Kali made it out of this alive -- thus meaning he would as well -- then he would have to tell her that she needed to find a way to keep the uncontrollable emotions to herself and stop spreading them to those who didn't need it.
Three times he felt no control. When his parents died, when Jenna was proven to be his niece, and now that Kali is in a coma. It was three times too many.
He arrived at the pack house, and it seemed like his arrival was expected. Ennis and the twins were standing in front of the door, looking as if they were ready to stop him. Deucalion had other plans, plans that were made clear as he got out of the car and stormed towards the house, not even pausing to close the car door. However, Ennis stepped in front of him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I can't let you in, Deucalion. Not until you calm down."
"I am calm. Let me see my mate," he growled out through a mouthful of fangs, eyes glowing bright. He struggled against Ennis, and the Irish man flickered his eyes over to the twins who quickly moved to grip a side of Deucalion. "Let me see her!" His face was fully wolfed out, and he leaned forward and snapped his fangs at Ennis' face then twisted in the twins' grips to try and get at them.
The door opened, and Deucalion's attention was drawn there where Charlotte was standing. A growl tore it's way through his chest, and he attempted to lunge at her instead. "You! You hurt my mate. My mate could die!" The wolf side of him was slowly working it's way to take full control as the danger of Kali dying made him angrier and more feral. The twins made sure that he couldn't go anywhere, but Ennis still shot her a look that said she should be inside the house.
"I can help calm him down," she said to Ennis, her eyes red and cheeks tear stained. Deuce growled at her and snapped out, "You've done enough!" right before a pain shot through his body. He collapsed to the ground, the twins taking a step back as he did so. His claws dug into the ground one moment, and then it was just his fingers the next. The process repeated over and over. His fangs continuously moved in and out of his gums; Deuce was sure his other shift features were doing the same. Eventually he was left completely human, crumpled on the ground shaking in anger and fear and hurt and worry.
Charlotte moved forward -- Ennis trying to stop her with a hand, but she simply pushed it away -- and kneeled next to Deuce. Her hand tentatively rose before she threaded her fingers through his hair, reminding him of the way that she had petted him when he was in Alpha form during the time Kali was in India. He leaned into the touch, eventually moving to wrap his arms around Charlotte's waist.
Three times was too many times to not have a handle on his emotions.
