Winter is Coming
Who: Deucalion, Kali, Ennis, and Derek Where: The Hale Pack House When: During school hours so no one stumbles upon them. What: Deucalion, Kali, and Ennis have some bonding time with Derek.
Derek sat bent over the desk in the living room, one hand keeping the paper still so he could sketch easily onto the paper. In the silence of the large house, it was the only thing that kept him sane. It was how he had coped with the fire, with Laura's death, with Peter's betrayal. And it was now he was dealing now. Of course, he couldn't have the time to deal with his issues. Of course not. He tensed at the scent invading his territory. Not pack. His wolf growled and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up on end. "Alphas," he grumbled.
Ennis was only along for the ride so that he could quietly judge the decour. Pushing his sunglasses up on his nose, he raises an eyebrow at Kali and Deucalion. "Who does he think we are, Santa Claus?" He rolls his eyes as he calmly stride up the porch and enters the house, using one finger to pick the lock. "Yes, Alphas. Why are you an alpha? Your ability to state the obvious puts you down as last choice in my opinion," he says to Derek, leaning against a wall with a cocky smirk so Deuce can get this show on the road.
Derek ignored Ennis and let his eyes focus on Deucalion. "What do you want?"
Deucalion let out a sigh. "Goodness. You and your betas have very little manners. It's a good thing Kali's excellent at discipline." He turned and looked at her with a grin. "If you would. Oh, and be gentle." He stepped inside the house and made his way to the living room, making a face as he caught a whiff of the couch and chose to sit in an armchair instead.
Derek 's eyes darted to Kali and couldn't keep the confusion and aprehension off his face.
Kali had been picking at her fingernails with the sword she recently purchased. So she had been on a Game of Thrones kick, sue her for getting into pop culture once more. She had been itching to really test out the blade's sharpness on something, and while dummies were fun from time to time, there was nothing like the feel of flesh and blood spilling onto a steel blade. Which is how she let herself get convinced to visit little Hale Alpha's residence. It wasn't that she had any real anger towards the Alpha, it was that she was bored. Stepping inside the house, she gave a small feral smile at Hale. "Be happy I haven't soaked this in wolfsbane, boy," Kali stated before lunging forward and letting the blade pierce his stomach, careful not to nick any major organs. She was cruel, but unless they really wanted to kill him, she could control herself.
Derek didn't have time to react before the sword was piercing through his skin. He roared and felt the need to try and scramble away. The blade twisted, catching on his skin and muscles, and blood welled to stain his shirt. Kali's grip was too tight, he was too weak (although he would never admit it outloud) to fight back.
Deucalion listened to the sound of the sword pushing through flesh and Derek's howl. He turned around and looked at Kali. "I was sure you would have said Winter is coming at least. Shame." His eyes darted down to Derek and he raised a questioning eyebrow. "Do you watch Game of Thrones, Derek? It's a quite riveting show, you know."
Derek gritted his teeth. "Tell me you didn't stab me to discuss TV shows?"
Ennis rolled his eyes. "No he stabbed you to make a point."
Derek eyes snapped to Ennis and his knees buckled beneath him. He hissed out. "A fucking point about what?"
Deucalion "Shush, Ennis. You'l ruin the surprise." He looked around the room, taking in the room. "You've settled down quite a lot haven't you, Hale?"
Derek didn't answer, just watched Deucalion through glaring eyes.
Ennis smirked vindictively and did as he was asked, fingers skimming over various surfaces in the room. Stopping by a vase, he casually swept it off of the table. "Hey, Deuce," he said to catch his friend's attention. "Would you mind if I burned this couch? It smells."
Deucalion "I would leave it. It reminds him that our pack can easily take what's his. Aiden and-" Deucalion paused, looking up and snapped his fingers as he hummed, pretending to try and remember Stiles's name even though he knew it well, even the boy's real name. "Oh, what's his name. Kali, do you remember?"
Derek 's eyes snapped close and he tried to fight off how much that /fucking hurt/. He gritted his teeth and breathed out heavily to try and keep control.
Kali was enjoying herself, twisting the blade ever so slightly as she felt the muscles around it begin to regrow. Snapping out of her daydream, she heard the question asked, and replied, "Stiles, I think. Though, I doubt it is his real name. No one names their kid after steps."
Ennis sighed. "I guess I shall just settle for breaking these vases then," he turned an appraising eye on Derek. "For such a scruffy man, your house is very well-kept. Who cleans it?" He dropped another vase to the floor. "More trouble for this poor soul."
Deucalion makes a noise of agreement. "Yes, that's right. Stiles. His real name is Vyacheslav. Did you know that, Derek? It's certainly a mouthful for people who aren't familiar with Russian. I knew his mother. Tragedy that she died so young. Then again, you're mother died young, too, didn't she?" He shakes his head gently as he gets up and moves to squat in front of the other Alpha. "Anyway, back to the point. Aiden has been doing such a good job of turning Stiles against you, hasn't he?" Deucalion gripped Derek's chin tightly and dragged his head up to meet Duke's eyes.
Derek could feel his body trying to heal itself and how it failed, every twist of the blade just reopening wounds. They felt rough and sore and it stung, so much. For a moment, Derek contemplated just giving over to it, forcing his body to stop healing so he could just bleed out. The alpha pack didn't want him dead, if they did, they would have done it anyway. It seemed like a good fuck you. But then he thought of the people he'd leave behind. Most of them didn't want or need him, probably wouldn't even mourn him, but there was a few that did. Deucalion's voice broke into his thoughts and he growled lowly, "Leave my mother and Stiles out this," he bit out, and coughed up blood.
Ennis rolled his eyes. "You aren't in any position to make demands," Ennis commented and whoops, there went a lamp. Maybe he should break the phone too? Delay help from getting there if Derek decided he needed to make calls from the landline. Out went his claws and snip, snip- the phone wire was gone.
Deucalion "Oh, family is a topic I usually avoid because I do have some respect for those I.. Well, I don't want to kill you just yet." He dropped Derek's chin but continued to look at him. "Did your mother ever tell you the story about the god of a wolf that rose up from nowhere to power, Derek? I'm sure she did. The stories about me are quite fascinating. Especially the ones in Africa. They're the best. And you'll always get mostly the same story. Unless you ask your uncle. Peter never did like me."
Derek "For once...I agree with Uncle Peter," he muttered.
Deucalion continued on like Derek never even spoke. "When I heard he killed your sister -- my condolences, by the way. I could always tell she was going to be a beautiful leader -- I was looking forward to recruiting him into the pack. I know he had a thing for power, even when your mother was Alpha. Then you went and ruined that plan by killing him."
Derek 's hands rolled into fists at the mention of his sister and his lips pulled into a bitter smile. "Sorry...to...disappoint..."
Deucalion "And disappoint you did." He stands up, frowning at how his shoes now have blood on them. "Oh, these were new." He sighed and took a step back to avoid the puddle of blood. "So you came here with the intentions of-" He paused and looked between Ennis and Kali. "What did Braginski's official report say?"
Ennis smirked as he dropped another lamp on the floor, carefully side-stepping Derek's blood. "He came here with the intentions of getting Boyd and Erica back."
Deucalion "The intention of retrieving the previous Hale betas that have chosen to ally themselves with the Deucalion pack. There was also intention of killing all members of the Deucalion pack after extraction." He hummed under his breath and moved to sit in the armchair once more. "Braginski never gets anything wrong. Well there was that one time when he said Kali was too thin to be able to take down the twins on her own." He looked to Kali with a proud grin.
Derek stubbornly said nothing.
Kali gave her mate a small smile before frowning down at the Hale alpha. "You know, this is no fun for me if you don't beg for mercy or cry out in pain. Such a killjoy."
Deucalion took a deep breath and looked around the mess that Ennis had made. "He's a Stark, through and through, Kali." Then he spoke to Derek once more. "For a while I thought you were going to make the first move. Attack the link you thought was the weakest. On first glance, it would automatically be the twins. It's the faces I think." He shook his head with a smirk. "The devils hide behind the disguise of those perfectly angelic faces. Then you didn't. And we got bored waiting. Bad things happen when we get bored. We end up doing things like... Housecalls."
Ennis grins gleefully. "And housecalls are the most fun to make because," he paused to push over a bookshelf. "Nobody can hear your screams out here."
Derek tips his head to look at them. "If you're going....to kill me...just do it. What's the... point in ....playing around?"
Deucalion "I would apologize for the mess that Ennis is making, but I'm positive you would rather him tear apart your house rather than your body. It took a long while before he was able to contain the blood lust that came from his previous pack." He looked back to Derek and grinned. "Besides. If I wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead." He motioned to Kali to remove the sword and stood up. "We don't have to be enemies, Derek. I'm sure there are ways we could be wonderful allies. Come find me if you'd like to discuss it. Next time, I may just let Ennis be the one in charge of injuring you."
Derek "If this...is...your way of...making friends...you need to...work...on your...delivery. Allies...against what? Why...do you think...I'd ever...join you?"
Ennis shifts but he doesn't say anything. He knows that Deucalion would never make him torture anyone unless Ennis felt the urge to. And Ennis had gone a long time without the urge. But something about this town was affecting his blood lust and he wanted to tear Derek apart, maybe break out his old knives. See how long it would take to make the Alpha scream. Exiting the house, he went to wait by the car.
Kali pouted at the reference of him being a Stark. "He doesn't deserve such honor. Maybe one of the Night Watch. Lord knows he isn't getting any." Pulling out the blade, she quickly implanted it once more, in his leg, awfully close to his groin. Leaning down, she whispered, "Whoopsie." Finally extracting the blade completely from the alpha, she pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket and began cleaning the blade as she left the building.
Deucalion "Can't you feel the war, Derek?" He paused, thinking over his next line with a smirk. "Winter is coming." His head tilted slightly before shaking his head. "No. I still have to say I'm a Lannister, Kali." With that, he grinned once more at Derek and kicked him hard in the side, knocking the injured Alpha over, then walked out the door and closed it as if they had never even been there.
Derek let out an 'oof' and rolled onto his side, eyes clenched shut and hands moving to stomach, the wound seeping. He blinked to try and clear his vision. The silence descended back around him once more.
