Frustration furrowing on her brow, the engineer turned the coffee machine on again, only for the automatic drip to sputter steam and gurgle in a futile effort to dispense the finished product. That wasn’t good, and it was already six AM– most of her other co-workers would be clocking in and coming into the break room for a cup soon. Not wanting to have to deal with a bunch of cranky mercs without their morning coffee, and also being addicted to caffeine herself, Danielle unplugged the machine and opened the back panel where the wiring lay to see what was wrong.
“Awh– what in th’–?!” Immediately she was greeted with a burst full of steam and a sticky, golden substance coating the wires and gears inside the contraption. God, it would take so long to clean this out it would just be better to buy a new one.
But she wasn’t going to go without her morning coffee fix, so she bent over to fetch a small pot, filled it with water from a water bottle, and put it on the eye of the stove, igniting the blue flame at the bottom to set it to boil. She heard a pair of long-legged footsteps down the hall, and turned her head for a brief moment to acknowledge the team’s sniper.
“If y’ came in here fer coffee I’m ‘fraid yer gon’ have t’ just boil yer own water, ‘cus somebody filled th’ back panel fulla honey.” Honestly, this team had to be the craziest bunch she had worked with yet– who even does that?
