Thoughts on Shokugeki no Soma Chapter 94
Hey guys, back again to bring you another chapter from Shokugeki no Soma. Now we know who's battling in the finals, let's see how it will lead up to the big event. So let's get into it.
Chapter 94: Seizing the Season
Yukihira and Tadokoro have just arrived at the fish market. While looking for fish, they encounter Kurokiba and Alice. Once I saw them, I knew Kurokiba and Yukihira would have a mini-battle about seafood. And I knew that Yukihira will get schooled by Kurokiba because let's face it, Kurokiba is the master of seafood. How it pans out, Yukihira selects a Pacific Saury from a group of them and believes to be the freshest one. However, Kurokiba tells him that it's not and pick a smaller one and to prove who's right, they both serve their selected saury as sashimi.
Yukihira was impressive as his knife skills are able to keep up with Kurokiba. Once complete, Tadokoro is asked to try both dishes and concludes that Yukihira's dish has a weaker consistency. Kurokiba further explains that there are more factors when it comes to picking the best fish, compared to wild instincts - fits his character when wearing the bandanna. He says not having the best ingredients can make a big difference and tells Yukihira he won't lose to someone who judges fish with half-hearted knowledge. With Kurokiba and Alice leaving, Hayama also visited the market and picked out the best fish using his sense of smell.
With both competitors having a better sense of judgement, Yukihira looks to be already on the back foot. After Jouichirou, this could be his most challenging cook-off yet. The possibility of Yukihira losing is getting higher.
Feel free to message me what you guys think of this chapter.
GRADE: GOOD (B)
The “Richest” Person in School is a Poor Ikimen
It may seem like a cheesy line from “It’s a Wonderful Life,” but it’s a saying that really fits someone like Isogai.
He may not have a lot of money or a high reputation like Gakushuu does, but as long as he has his friends by his side, he can hardly consider his life something to pity.
And obviously the students feel they are lucky to have such an incredible leader and friend in this Poor Ikimen of theirs.
Let Bygones be Bygones
Heh, he really reminds me of Draco Malfoy. He’s such a prissy and stubborn kid.
But even though they’re still rivals for the most part, Isogai and the Class have always recognized him, and even admired his skills both in school and on the field.
And while he’s more than reluctant to accept a handshake from those who’d humiliated him for the second (third if you count Takebayashi’s incident from before XD) time, I’m sure one day he’ll acknowledge them with more respect too.
Although that might not be for a long time, Gakushuu can’t keep holding a grudge against these guys forever; especially if one day they come to his aid.
((Which seems inevitable considering what had previously had happened to him with the Chairman, and with the students who can completely sympathize with him.))
