I think it’s beautiful that Franky gets to beat Spandam’s face in both during his flashback and in the present day.

I really like this moment for Franky. Not only does have the balls to threaten to shoot an elephant, but he’s able to draw on his shared experience with Robin to galvanize her into fighting back without being demeaning or patronizing. It’s not super flashy, but I feel like it really fits with that sort of rough and tumble leadership he would have used to unite Water 7′s underworld.

Plus he then gets to actually, you know, throw said elephant on Spandam, but that’s the little cherry on top

Franky doesn’t really end up forgiving himself for his part in Tom’s death until right before leaving Water 7, so this sentiment makes sense as him trying to make up for past mistakes.
