Captain Avery has a very public, quiet Facebook presence mostly with safety PSAs. He keeps it clean and professional, like his shirts. Today, however, something is amiss and Hell has risen from the deep dark corners of it.
It finally occurs to him how the post that has made several local newspapers reach out to him for public comment. “Baby, did you forget to log me out of Facebook on your computer?”
“Umm… maybe, why?” Todd feels his mouth grow dry. He is suddenly filled with dread. It’s easy to fill his husband with dread and Avery can hear his nervousness over the line.
“Because the least political political thing one could reblog has people calling the office and complaining. Riggs is in trouble so he’s having to answer the phones… you may have inadvertently given me an amazing gift,” Avery declares to assuage the former SEAL’s guilt.
Avery carries out the phone and stands next to Riggs. “'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ was garbage. It would be a fantastic way for Marvel to honor real heros to represent over 70 years of men and women who served their country but faced severe persecution for it. I know he didn’t mean it politically, but I sure as Hell not be bringing Captain Avery your very nasty, nasty slurs, but do, please, have a lovely, crime-free day.”
After a day of it, Avery finally logs into Facebook and makes a profile change.

New Post: A friend accidentally shared a post under the wrong account. That was not intended as a political statement. This is. I’m gay, get over it.
It’s followed up by Murtaugh bribing a member of the public relations office into giving him a minute with the department’s own Facebook. He has the message prepared :
“While we don’t take political sides on issues, same-sex marriage and similar actions are legal. They are also a regular basis of discrimation and violence. It is our jobs as police to protect marginalized and threatened citizens. It is our honor. It is also our honor to stand with our captain, Brooks Avery, the best man we know. #GiveOurCapABoyfriend”
Palmer may or may not put it on a fundraiser shirt to help the cities’ homeless teen population. They sell out at Pride.
Riggs: Well, let's just say she understands complicated.

Pioneers Hip Hop Show 16/2/26 - Manchester 1980s [Audio]
This month’s Pioneers Hip Hop Show begins by setting foot in Manchester in the early 1980s, time when the electro funk sound was dominant. The crew trace the development of Hip Hop music from this point (names like Greg Wilson, Chad Jackson, Broken Glass and Prince Kool), before journeying through the 80s up until the turn of the decade. As usual there is some brand new music featured at the end…
The DMC World DJ Championships
DMC40 – Five Decades Of Turntablism
The DMC World DJ Championships launched in 1985, when a young Londoner named Roger Johnson claimed the very first title at the legendary Hippodrome during DMC’s inaugural DJ Convention. Around 5,000 DJs looked on in awe and confusion at this bold new concept—but innovation was underway, and nothing could stop it.

A year later, the competition was transformed. America’s DJ Cheese revolutionized the decks, scratching his way to DMC’s first true World Champion title. The runner-up, Orlando Voorn of Holland, famously grabbed the mic from DMC founder Tony Prince and shouted: “What is this, a mixing competition or a scratching competition?” Today, Orlando is celebrated as one of electronic music’s most creative producers—a far cry from his early battle days.

By 1987, the art of turntablism began to take shape. DJs introduced props, body tricks, and imaginative scratching techniques—bicycles, kitchen sinks, even partners were pulled into routines. Chad Jackson from the UK used a billiard cue and an American football en route to the title. The venue? The Royal Albert Hall—which had never hosted a DJ before. That night, hip-hop filled the air as audiences witnessed a sound that didn’t yet have a name.

In 1988, 5,000 fans returned to the Royal Albert Hall to witness a legend in the making. Flying in from Philadelphia, Cash Money redefined what was possible on turntables. Today, he’s rightly revered as an old-skool icon, but at the time, he was breaking new ground. Few DJs in DMC history have been as influential—or as loved.

By then, everyone wanted to be part of a DMC final. Icons like Run DMC, Public Enemy, Janet Jackson, and James Brown all graced the event. In 1989, the UK’s Cutmaster Swift scratched his way to victory, becoming the first recipient of the DMC/Technics Golden Turntables. A pioneer in his own right, Swift remains a valued part of the DMC family to this day.

In 1990, the Championships moved to the massive Wembley Arena, sharing a stage once graced by Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. The sold-out event attracted so much hype that "ram raiders" attempted to crash the show—literally. The Boo-Yaa Tribe stepped in as impromptu security, and Germany’s DJ David took home the crown before 7,000 roaring fans
By then, the DMC World DJ Championships had grown into one of the most exciting and important events in global music culture—and it was only just beginning
