I have a very special #CovidChronicles #CoffeeChat posted up on YouTube today: Tameka L. Coleman and I (yup, you read that correctly!) have been watching each others work for a while now on #socialmedia. Much to our surprise and delight, we don't only share the bulk of our name, we share similar mindsets, and also live some sort of parallel life. I reached out to talk with Tameka about #activism, mourning #ChadwickBozeman, being mixed-race and gaining perspective on when we, as mixed-raced #Black people become #allies and #accomplices, and also understanding and being #mixedrace in various, often confusing, circumstances. We talk about learning what our #civilduties might be in multiple contexts, and how we have learned to navigate #racism from where we are. We talk about our respective #superpowers, the way we work in #community, #queerness and the weirdness of #gender. #ChadwickBozeman was living with a colon cancer diagnosis when @marvelstudios first billion dollar blockbuster opened in February 2016. #BlackPanther continues to honor his work and every descendents of African heritage. It is also @marvel's first Oscar winner and displayed the outstanding and award winning talents of many Black creators in front of and behind the camera. We cannot forget his magnificent portrayals of James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and Jackie Robinson. Each time he transformed into another trailblazer he took us along for a thought provoking and inspiring ride. Denzel Washington's investment in the education of this South Carolina kid aspiring to attend @howard1867 would change the world as we see it. He and the BP cast offered the world fictional characters with values children and adults alike could embody in real-life. RIP @chadwickboseman.
