NGL it's funny how our idea of "Saja Boys redemption arc themed around inverting their archetype" quickly turned into fetish central with puppyboy Mystery, forcefemming Romance, and force feeding Abby. And like it's not intentional but also how else would you do it?

Exploring Mystery as a person requires leaning into the few noteworthy things about him, such as his tusks, dog-like behavior that relies on body language instead of actual words, and the fact that (according to the VA) he actually has a crush on Zoey. So having Mystery secretly be a dog-like spirit known as a Bulgae makes perfect sense.

Romance and Abby are both caricatures of toxic masculinity, so naturally having them experience and embrace femininity would invert both of them.

Romance is the "womanizer" archetype so having his growth be about learning to love herself rather than seeking love from others is perfect.

Abby is the embodiment of unhealthy beauty standards, so having his arc be about dealing with/recovering from eating disorders and gaining weight to prioritize her physical and mental health over her simps is the only logical solution.

The only one that isn't fetish related is Baby. Because he is the embodiment of infantilization of Asian men/younger celebrities so his arc is about maturing and family. He literally goes from "baby" to "grandfather" after reconnecting with the family he lost when he died young when trying to run from the inevitability of growing old.

I love making AUs that expand on characters barely mentioned in canon. I can say that Rumi's Dad is an ancient beefcake Jeoseung Saja that could beat Gwi-Ma with the power of Old Man Yaoi and a giant hammer he found and you can't prove me wrong.

It's a short and sweet chapter basically just established group dynamics and showing how the negotiations with Gwi-Ma went.

Fun Development in the Chae-Won AU: We wanted a scene where King tries to get Bobby drunk (Supposedly to get Huntrix's secrets from him) since demons aren't affected by alcohol but Whoopsie! The alcohol was mixed with [Anti-Demon Substance], so now King is the one getting drunk and spilling secrets. We ended up going with orange juice because Oranges repel evil in Korean mythology, so therefore, they're toxic to demons.

Related Shenanigans:

Rumi is "allergic to oranges" (Celine knows that oranges are toxic to demons so she's not going to risk Rumi eating one)

The drunkest Rumi has ever gotten was when Huntrix was in America and she ordered a screwdriver without knowing it contained orange juice. Everyone was freaking out because of her "allergy", especially Rumi herself.

Saja Boys celebrated the hit success of "Soda Pop" with a bunch of screwdrivers made mostly of King's vodka. They refilled the bottle with the remaining orange juice, and so when King enacted his plan to get Huntrix's secrets from a drunk Bobby, it backfired SPECTACULARLY.
