it's kind of unfortunate that hong kong designer chailie ho's s/s 2012 collection as presented at sydney's rosemount australian fashion week received so little press, because i'd really like to know what the inspiration was.  however, a couple of sites did--cursorily, at least--go over what was on display, and vogue noted that the work was part of the 'style hong kong' group show. 

the site paperdolls style, which had a couple of nice images from the show, commented that ms. ho's collection was full of "vibrant flowy dresses," while the blog j'adorais went a little more in-depth, writing that "Chailie Ho’s designs accentuate the delicate elegance of modern women, embracing feminine independence and inner strength. In her latest collection, Chailie combines romantic sartorial details and soft hand-drawn watercolour prints with a strong emphasis on fluidity, her refined, sleek and unconventional collection glows with a gentle timeless elegance."

actually, when paging through the images of the asymmetrical, almost roughly-cut powdery pastel frocks, i was reminded of the recent lena criveanu a/w 2012 collection at berlin fashion week, with it's storybook, slightly wild woodland creature feeling, although i'd argue that (for the most part, at least) ms. ho's was slightly more accessible and wearable (though ms. criveanu's certainly was beautiful). 

it's a shame ms. ho didn't get more love for these works, which would be equally flattering on a date or evening out as they would for a more formal occasion, and considering how often i see these actress-y types getting it wrong on the red carpet, i'd certainly love to see one trying out the wispy, layered wedgewood blue frock (below), or even (though it would be slightly riskier) the asymmetrical, rosette-strewn transparent yellow gown (fourth from top).  wouldn't those be a trip?
