Hi, I got tagged by @worm-on-a-wire to share 6 random things about myself? SO without further ado:

I have a cat named Tesseract, or Tessa for short (named after A Wrinkle In Time, not Avengers). She's currently sitting on my lap rn and "helping" me with my studying (clearly I'm doing a great job at studying rn lol)

I'm a big data nerd, I like sociology and economics and statistics and research and shit like that. I'm not the biggest math person, but I like when the numbers tell a story about people's lives and you get to play detective and put together a bigger picture based on clues.

I went to a public fine art high school which was cool bc I didn't have to waste money in order to realize that art is my passion, not something I want to make a career of!

I'm starting to think I should have made some of these into two points, I'm really not that interesting lol

I have a black belt in Taekwon-do, but I think upright styles are kinda useless and if I ever got back into martial arts again I'd wanna go for something practical like Silat (except it kind of scares me! lol)

One time I wrote an epic poem in full verse and all 250+ lines flowed out of me effortlessly in the span of about 2 days and sometimes I just think about that and marvel at how the universe can randomly select you as a conduit for a moment in time and then, just as suddenly, it gets bored and wanders off to the next vessel

Okay, I was tagged by @willowswasteoftime (in this post) to list three facts about me – thank you, dear <3 I decided against random and picked a theme: irl work.

Fact 1: When I don’t fanfic and fanart I work as an art teacher.

Fact 2: I used to think I’d love the art-part of the work the most, but to my surprise it turns out that the students truly are the best thing about it. Sure, they drive me nuts on occasion, but so does my art.

Fact 3: Some of my students are miles better at drawing than I am, and, almost without fail, super self conscious about their work. This reaffirms that whole ”smart people understand how little they know, talented people see how far they have to go” -thing, but there is a scary number of mediocre folks out there who’ll shamelessly swagger into the places in the world that could belong to people like my students. And that frustrates me. So yeah, practice, keep honing your skills, be a better artist, but don’t forget to work on taking up rightful space, to grow your sense of self worth and confidence too.

A bit preachy, no? Well, I am a teacher after all.

I was tagged by @clerati to share 7 lines from a WIP. Thank you!

I haven’t gotten far into my next project, and most of it makes zero sense out of context so here’s something from the first chapter, more meta than anything.

The insight is heavy as it lands right on top of her; Dean might actually have gotten married out of spite, or as a rebound, or a desperate measure after the fight at Kyle’s party made it obvious to anyone present that he was still into his ex. All of it can be traced back to Rory Gilmore, but Lindsey ignored the evidence and married him anyway.
