So... the Raven Man turn's out to be the portion of Lim-Dûl's soul that was contained within Mairsil's ring. I hear "The Raven Man" and "Liliana of the Veil" will play well with each other. But can the same be said for "The Raven Man" and "Lim-Dûl, the Necromancer"? Or what about about "Lim-Dûl, the Necromancer" and "Liliana, the Necromancer"? Just some interesting curiosities to think about.
Out with the demons, in with the onakke.

We’ve seen Liliana use the Chain Veil in battle plenty of times, but what does an average day spent with trapped ogre ghosts look like? I imagine it’s something like this.
Planar Chaos - Author’s Note 2
There won’t be an installment of Planar Chaos tonight. While I have been chugging right along, my all day excursion and the fact that I’m exhausted right now have put me at a stand still. I know roughly what happens next in the canon of Eldritch Moon and how I want to change it, and this is where it gets tricky: inserting Rowan into established events. He’s going to be filling in for Lily when the Geist Expert uses the witchbane orb to try and drain the omake out of the Chain Veil (which honestly, that’s a very Liliana thing to do), and the pain he’ll experience will be a turning point in his character which up to now has been very laid back in the sense that he’s been going along with what people tell him to do.
Rowan may be out of his depth, but that doesn’t mean he’ll accept outright torture, which is what he’ll consider this to be. This is also when all hell starts breaking loose with the Eldrazi twisted werewolves making an appearance.
I don’t plan on having Rowan join the Gatewatch, but they should meet and fairly soon with Liliana Vess and her army of the damned hot on his heels. What I need to figure out is how to get Rowan to in character want to get to Thraben and the mass of tentacles there. I have an idea of how to do it, but it might tip my hand about his past too soon.
We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the mean time it’s like 1am. I’m fucking beat. Good night.
I received an ask from someone who rather remains anonymous. No problem! The question is “Why can't Liliana get rid of The Chain Veil easily? Why can't she throw it away and be done with it?“
I took a look at the Art of Innistrad, and it can be summed up in two quotes. Page 171, if you have one. Liliana “mentally resolved to free herself from the demons’ control by any means necessary.”
I’m going to add some background, for completeness sake. Liliana made pacts for power with four different demons. This however meant that each demon had some control over her, and she didn’t like that. So she wants to be free of their grasp, no matter the cost.
The Chain Veil is a way to get (closer to) her personal freedom. However, using it also causes her personal freedom to decline, as the Veil is starting to influence her. Now comes the second quote: “She is determined to gain some measure of control over the magic of the Chain Veil, to draw on it’s powers without giving in to it’s demands.“
She might be able to throw the Chain Veil away, but she doesn’t want to. She wants and needs its power. There are still two powerful demons to defeat. Battles she’d rather win.
Didn't one of the stories say Lilian a had the chain veil locked away somewhere? Because it's currently strapped to her belt. Should we be concerned?
@flavoracle did you hear about something developed by a planeswalker that gives them immunity to the curse of the Chain Veil?
