A question from me now! I know nothing about instrumemts other than "This one sounds nice." and "I can hear x theme inn x song." (Combined with my love for strings, it's why I adore "fate of the unknown", "dismiss", and BBS' OST in general.) But I do have lots of strong opinions on some of Shimomura's music from a non-musical background. Thus, my two questions: Were there any songs that sounded better to you on the non-HD soundtracks? (opposed to the HD OSTs) Favorite version of Rage Awakened?
Fate of the Unknown is so cool. Terra and Aqua are both in it (BUT NOT VENTUS). Dismiss is another incredible one! Combining Destati and Terra with Aqua’s violin fighting to play the melody throughout! You can’t get much better :)The HD orchestrations did so many good things, but one of the biggest struggles when using live players is that the attacks on the notes are often not as quick as sampled instruments, so a few of the battle tracks–though expanded instrumentally–suffered a bit from a lazy slide whenever different sections of the track would come in. Cavern of Remembrance comes to mind(Our preferences might also be heavily influenced by nostalgia, too).Favorite ver. of Rage Awakened is Rage Awakened (HD2.5)!
