     ‘  It  didn’t  need  to  .  ‘  At  first  glance  ,  it  would  be  quite  the  contradiction  .  Death  itself  could  not  take  them  so  easily  ;  much  like  a  starfish  ,  their  lost  limbs  and  pieces  would  only  grow  back  .  Quanxi  points  to  his  chest  ,  then  her  eye  :  just  as  she  had  when  they  met  again  as  allies  .

     Sometimes  she  forgets  how  little  is  remembered  of  the  moments  leading  up  to  their  fight  together  as  hybrids  .

     Back  of  hand  rises  to  push  up  her  hair  at  last  ,  index  &  thumb  from  opposite  hand  pinched  between  socket  to  tug  at  arrow  hiding  just  behind  where  eye  would  have  been  .  No  more  than  nock  is  revealed        enough  to  answer  the  question  without  trouble  of  explanation  .

     Brow  arches  as  eyepatch  is  snatched  away  ,  little  protest  or  attempt  made  to  retrieve  it  from  hands  so  eager  to  cause  trouble  .  Empty  socket  remains  mostly  concealed  by  bangs  clinging  to  cheek  ,  but  she’s  a  feeling  his  curiosity  will  not  be  sated  until  hair  is  pulled  back  as  well  .
