Chalciporus piperatus - the peppery bolette.
Purple-red Bolete - Chalciporus rubinellus
Chalciporus rubinellus (Boletaceae) is a species of bolete with red or reddish caps when young, and yellower in age. The pore surface of this species is bright rose-red, and the stipe is red or reddish initially, sometimes mixed with yellow. The flesh is bright yellow. Although beautiful in appearance, its edibility is unknown.
This species can be found in North America, from eastern Canada south to North Carolina, west to Wisconsin.
