FR ASK MEME TIME. All the evens 2-18 and all the odds 21-33. :3
2. Why did they choose this Flight?
Daedalus has always been a free spirit, and being a Wind dragon was natural. I, uh, also HC that he was one of the first few Wind dragons to be created by the Windsinger since he’s got a 5 digit ID number. But shh, that’s vaguely OPed.
4. What would be the deciding factor in a move, if the clan had to?
Probably just Daedalus wanting a change. Considering that the clan is a fleet of airships, there’s nothing exactly binding them to one clan. Also, the Clan is more or less a floating bazaar, so I’d like to think other clans would encourage them to visit for the chance of rare items.
6. How does the clan view those from different Flights? Are they welcoming to all dragons, or suspicious of newcomers?
ALL THE DRAGONS. Daedalus welcomes all... and he is perhaps too welcoming. Nobody has taken advantage of his trust yet, but certain dragons have a foreboding feeling.
Daedalus, my progen. I think I’ve spoken about him enough, lol.
10. Was the leader chosen? Were they elected? An heir to the throne? Or maybe they achieved something within the clan?
Daedalus, again, has been the founder and the leader of Clan Chalybis ever since it first came into creation. He is strong, merciful and just. A natural leader, if you will.
12. How does your clan view the Beastclans? Who handles Beastclan relations?
Daedalus views the harpies as Chalybis’ closest allies, amongst the beastkin who have yet to join the anti-dragon beastclans. There’s a symbiosis thing going on.
Asclepius, Tantivy and Kellarth deal with Centaur issues, Trebuchet is fluent in Harpy-speech, Palaemon deals with the Maren the most, Priam has strong ties to the Serthis and the Longnecks are Daedalus’ forte. Talonoks just kinda... talk to anyone, if they have to at all.
14. Does your clan have any Flight ambassadors? What do they do?
Nope. We boring. Also, I am poor.
16. Are all dragons in the clan expected to contribute in some way? Or are they left to their own devices?
Certain groups of dragons are expected to do what they can to keep the fleet in air and running well, but some dragons are allowed to wander in and out. Of course, most dragons have jobs of some kind, so it’s not as if everyone’s idle.
Flintlock’s an exception. He’s just... there sometimes, or not. No one really questions it.
18. Does your clan trade with any other clans? Any allies? Enemies?
Chalybis basically cruises around Sornieth. Once every three years, they come back to where the fleet first left land to the spot where Daedalus set up the clan before it had even really become worthy of the title ‘clan’. As such, they have plenty of time and resources to trade with the clans they encounter. No real allies or enemies, but I hope for the former to change ;) (yes, this is a prompt. shush.)
21. Does your clan have a healer?
Why yes we do. Go to Asclepius, the clan medic and healer for flesh wounds, while Claymore is much more readily equipped to deal with the spiritual and emotional.
23. How does your clan educate younger dragons? Is there a scribe, scholar, or mentor?
Zweihander is supposed to be the clan storyteller, but recently hatchlings are learning of legends and myths, and all sorts of stories and worldly knowledge from him. Chrysos, as the scholar and librarian, is in charge of the more academical teaching.
25. Does your clan have a cook? Who handles the food?
Achlys is the clan chef, and let me tell you, he is a GOURMET. He and his mate, Erran (who is the clan Brewmaster) handle all the eatables.
27. Any messengers? Scouts? Delivery dragons?
Escalus is diplomat and messenger. Also delivery dragon. He, uh... needs a break.
29. How are familiars viewed in the clan? Pets? Companions? Friends?
Most are dedicated companions. All the Beastkin familiars only stick around with their dragonbonds (my term for which dragon has what familiar - ‘master’ doesn’t quite convey the feeling I’m going for) because they’ve come to a mutual agreement of trust and respect. Basically, dragon BFs.
31. Who cares for the familiars? The familiar's dragon, or a general caretaker?
Each individual dragon takes care of their bonded one, but Tantivy is in charge of all the unbound familiars.
33. Does your clan have any Beastclan members living among the ranks?
Oh, lots. Lets see... no notable Maren dragonbonds, but Tantivy and Kellarth’s familiars are centaurs named Achilles and Gareth, Whitemane and Painted Centaurs respectively. They’re bros, since their dragonbonds are mates. Priam’s familiar is Agri, an Opheodrys Serthis who he saved from a Scaleback horde waaaaay back when he was still a hatchling. She’s like an older sister who nags at him, and she’s almost always with him.
Trebuchet’s familiar is a Windcarve Harpy called Roku whom he is sworn brothers with. They were raised together in a Harpy clan Daedalus knew well, and Roku followed Trebuchet when the latter decided he wanted to learn more about his fellow dragons.
Asclepius was raised by a Dunhoof clan, and his familiar, Chira the Dunhoof Ambassador, was a mother figure to him. Achlys has a Viking Longneck familiar I have yet to come up with a story for.
