ok ok ok for the prompt thing, uh...whotsit, 27? the “I’m pregnant.” one (minus mpreg) and it's Chameron
go team!
"I'm pregnant." A woman told Charlie, a woman he barely recognized, a woman he never loved.
This is what Charlie gets for being the kind to sleep around, for being the kind who never loved properly or settle down.
Of course he took responsibility for the kid, it was the 60s, it would be devastating not to own up to knocking up such a lovely woman. Ah, right, he met her at his dad's Christmas party. Fuck.
His other friends were very supportive, Neil and Todd being the first to be excited (after they scolded him). Charlie wasn't one to be quiet about it too, telling every one of his friends. Except Cameron.
Especially not Cameron.
So it came to no surprise, when Cameron barged into his office and demanded an explanation as to why everyone got a wedding invite except him.
"What the hell Charlie?!"
"Hello, Cameron." Charlie said calmly.
"Don't 'Hello, Cameron' ME! Charlie, why wasn't I invited? I thought we weren't fighting anymore?!"
Charlie looked up at him with a pained expression.
"I.. I didn't what you to come to my wedding."
"I guess you're entitled to not invite me, but you could've at least told me! I'm still your friend, aren't I?"
"I..." Charlie's voice was caught in his throat. "I didn't want you to know I was marrying someone else."
"Were... you planning on marrying someone else?" Cameron brought his hands to his hips. "I'm not gonna judge you over it."
"Cam--" Charlie stood up from his desk and made his way over to Cameron. "Please, I'm asking you nicely, please leave."
Cameron looked visibly hurt by that, but he didn't back down. "Geez, Charlie, if you wanted to end our friendship that badly, you just had to ask."
"Cameron-- It's not that-"
"Then spit it out! I don't wanna have to worry out this-"
"Please, it's not something-"
"Would you just tell me? I'll leave after-"
"It's because it's not you, okay?!" Charlie snapped, making Cameron jolt. "It's because I'm making the worst mistake of my fucking life and I can't handle seeing you there, watching me marry someone else and be happy for me!"
"Charlie..."
"I wanted you to stop me! I wanted you to ask me to run away with you-- Fuck, I needed you to tell me that marrying her was a mistake! I was too fucking afraid to tell you--But now... you come in here to congratulate me and ask to see me married?! How the fuck am I supposed to feel about that?? I realized it's not because I've never loved anyone that I got into this mess-- It's because I can't love you openly that I'm trapped."
"I... I didn't know..."
Charlie let out a bitter chuckle, "Of course you wouldn't. I've hid this fact for so long." Charlie looked up at him with a single tear glossing his eye. "So do me a huge fucking favor, don't be there when I get married. I-- I won't be able to live with myself."
Cameron backs away before exiting Charlie's office. Charlie slumps down onto the floor, bawling silently as he let Cameron slip through his fingers once more.
