during class we looked at Sarah Kane's last play "4.48 psychosis". She expressed this with many different emotions that she has felt along with many different signs that act up on her behaviour. The emotions she writes are the elements of her feelings. her main use of literary elements are mostly emotions and poetic language. She uses these elements to make her writing sound like an emotional play that calls a sort of cry for help. This story does not seem like any other play that she has wrote but instead it seems more a cry for help and as I read it I viewed it more of a suicide letter because the story was out almost right after she commit suicide. We see many conflicts in the story involving Kane's mental health. At first she has been taking a lot of medications and all of a sudden she is not on these medications anymore. this shows one of the conflicts of her life that leads her to become the way she was while writing this play. another conflict we see in her story is that she is very delusional and she sees things in her head. For example, Sarah Kane (possibly the main character) talks to a doctor about how she is going to kill herself. The doctor here seems like he is just an imaginary person in the main characters head. Kane goes back and fourth with the conversations with the doctor and the conversations they seem to be having are seem more unreal. Kane also mentioned how she fell in love with the doctor and the doctor wasn't real. "but most of all ... god for making me fall in love a person who does not exist" Kane 10. In the story we see that Kane is not communicating with any other person except for the doctor and this doctor seems to have more of a deeper connection with her. Overall, this doctor weather she was real or if she was someone that she used to know, has a big connection between the two of them and their unreal relationship shows the tension of how Kane develops her feelings and eventually put her in a state of depression. Furthermore, Kane's chaotic desperation could be the fact that she feels lonely in this world so, she makes up people in her head so she could feel some sort of comfort.
