Suit Yourself! 75 Years of Powerful Style through March 13 2020

Now on exhibit at Drexel University's Robert and Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection, part of the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, is a show on one of my favorite garments: the suit.  They promise suit created by Gilbert Adrian who did both Hollywood costuming and ready-to-wear in the 1940s. There are Chanel suits from the 1950s, and the pantsuits of the 1970s will be on display, along with Giorgio Armani who made big shouldered suit in the 1980s in all those vague colors like greige (grey and beige mixed).

You see here a dark pink boucle suit that I would date to the early 1960s. Notice how the curve of the collar is echoed ever so slightly in the piecing of the jacket front just below the bust.
