There’s been so much on my mind recently ever since PointFive(.5) uploaded The 9th last Saturday.
For me... The 9th is my everything. PointFive has been such a shining light throughout my life, and even during the 7 year wait... I never stopped believing that they would come back. I would listen to their albums that were on my old iPod, and just wish and hope that one day, they would sing together again.
And that’s when January 25 happened. One of my friends told the group chat that G.W. Nicolai was on Gero’s cast, and the rest of the group chat immediately went to go listen. We were all listening to the lineup announcement, and then... Gero announced that there would be a one day comeback of an old group...
And it was PointFive.
As a overseas fan... I wasn’t able to go to PointFive’s one and only live back in 2011. But here I am, in Japan... studying abroad for a year... So to be given this chance... to see them perform... “What kind of timing” is the only way I could react.
I immediately bought a ticket once the tickets went on sale that night. And I just was so excited the following months. It was all I could think of.
When May arrived, my friend came to Tokyo, and that was the first time I went to Canaria. When I spoke to clear... I told him we were both excited to see PointFive’s comeback. clear, with a somewhat bittersweet, lonely smile, said that it would be their final performance, and that really tugged on my heart. Their final. At least... I was able to see one of their performances, is all I could think. If it’s their final... if it’s their goodbye, and that’s what’s decided, then I just have to accept it, I thought.
amu said the same thing two days later when we saw him at Canaria. The same facial expression as clear.
And with those words in mind... when I saw how tightly they hugged as a group of five during the closing statements, I cried, again. You could tell that they really had fun performing together again. Even their tweets about rehearsal... they said it’s been such a long time since they were all together, but it wasn’t awkward, they were able to joke so freely with each other.
A few days after Changero, we went to Canaria again, and we told clear “otsukaresama”. He said that Changero was so much fun, and that he wanted to sing more together. I told him I also wanted to hear songs such as undecidable, COLOUR, and Away we go, and clear said he wanted to sing those songs as well, as well as so much more. amu expressed the same thing a couple of days later. Asamaru talked about wanting to sing more with them on cast as well... and it just... ignited my small flame of hope into a raging fire.
And that’s when it happened.
PUPI himself... tweeting his thanks to Changero... and that there would probably be something PointFive related uploaded soon.
Asamack mentioned it in their cast later that it would be uploaded within a month from PUPI’s announcement... and that’s when I... just, wanted to scream every moment of the day, I was just so excited.
And I waited, again... until last Saturday.
There was a comment that really resonated with me when I saw it. The comment said that they thought Changero would be their end (because everyone was saying it would be)... but it really wasn’t. If anything... it was a new beginning.
The reception they got at Changero... but not just on that day, but the days leading up to it, of people excited to see them perform again... and the days following Changero over how moved they were to hear them perform again...
And not just the reception, but the pure feelings of just... having fun as a group again, enjoying singing together, joking together... you could tell that they didn’t want to end there.
Changero wasn’t the end for PointFive. It was their new beginning.
And that reflected with Asamaru quote-retweeting The 9th, saying “tadaima”.
Also with amu saying “tadaima” after reading everyone’s reactions to The 9th.
And with clear telling me “tadaima” after I told him “okaeri” at Canaria.
And... Dasoku and Mi-chan must have felt the same way, because PUPI said that if The 9th is received well... then to expect more PointFive in the future.
They just want to sing together again...
The other night, clear let slip and said “tsugi no PointFive”, and started talking about rfdn and his ad tickets, and said that people can use their ad tickets on... PointFive’s next upload.
Which means, they’re probably... going to upload something again.
The 9th won’t be their end, either.
I just want to say that I’m... glad I waited. They all mean so much to me, and even moreso now that I have personal relationships with clear and amu. They know me, talk to me, and just enjoy my company. It makes this comeback much more... precious.
From January 25 onward, 2018 has been an insane ride for me, and I still can’t believe any of this happened.
I still cry listening to The 9th.
「必ず帰るよ。」
Those were the words they said at the end of their 2011 live, after Honno Sukoshi no Sayonara.
Even though their “sukoshi” was 7 years... I’m thankful they ended up keeping their promise.
