SJM ‘Inspirations’: Book 4 Tairen Souls Series by C L Wilson - Queen of Song and Souls
I had never heard of the name ‘Feyre’ before ACOTAR (and correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure I saw an interview with SJM where she said she made the name up?) yet, Queen of Song and Souls has a Faerah. (I’d believe she’s never heard of the name before if there weren’t this many similarities between the series and her writing. It’s just not possible at this point).
- Queen of Song and Souls by C L Wilson (published 27 October 2009).
A common theory that has come from the recent Crescent City books is that the mating bonds have been manipulated by the Daglan/Asteri.
Then there’s this popular line from ACOWAR that feels reminiscent…
- A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas (published 2 May 2017)
- Queen of Song and Souls by C L Wilson (published 27 October 2009).
Some more debatable similarities:
Elysetta confronting an all-powerful mirror:
Feyre confronting an all-powerful mirror:
- A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas (published 2 May 2017)
Rain calling for Ellysetta while she’s under attack:
Rhys calling for Feyre when she’s under attack:
- A Court of Thorns and Roses (5 May 2015)
My original point still stands. One their own, all the comparisons I’ve made (and I’ve left many out that are more ambiguous) can merely be coincidence. But they are all adding up. And I still have one more book to go in this series.
Again, I’m not doing this to shame SJM, but I do think there is a conversation to be had here when she is making millions from inspirations from other authors.
