Changing thoughts

It has been a pretty strongly held belief of mine that I don’t like kids and never wanted to be a mother. Fast forward to a month before my 22nd birthday and I have caught myself thinking about motherhood and parenting a lot. I think a large shift in my perspective would be my making friends with parents and getting to experience friendship with them and getting to know their kids. 

Their kids tend to be pretty young 2 or 3 and a few 5 year olds. I spent one day chatting with a mom with a little girl with Down’s. She was content to sit on my lap and chew on her Wonder Woman doll and occasionally got fussy. 

NEWSFLASH : that used to irritate the hell out of me a few years ago but I honestly felt like “ok, she’s pretty upset - check and see if she needs changed. no? ok start bouncing her on my knee and make silly animals signs”" 

Felt pretty damn proud of myself when she quieted down- she actually fell asleep on my lap! I know kids are tough and require a whole hell of a lot of work and commitment but I think i’m not so opposed to being a mom one day.

So yeah I may or may not start knitting baby stuff because hormones.
