IMPORTANT: changing the publication date of your work

This is important if you’ve posted your work early on in the exchange. Once the admins reveal the works and authors, your work will show up in the Bucky/Tony tag as usual, but it will be backdated to the date you originally added it to the challenge collection. That means if, for example, you’ve posted your work on May 8th, your work will be back on the same page with all the other works that have been posted around that date, even though it will only be revealed on June 4th.

That’s unfortunate because it makes it harder for people to find your work. But worry not; there’s a way around it.

To change the publication date of your work, edit your already posted work, and go to Associations. There, you have to check the Set a different publication date box, which will allow you to change the publication date.

INFO: posting and changing publication dates

The 2016 WinterIron Spring Fling is soon coming to an end, which means it’s time to give you all some tips and tricks regarding posting/changing publication dates.

Posting Before you post your work on AO3, make sure that you’ve checked the 2016 WinterIron Spring Fling box under Associations -> Open Assignments. This automatically adds your work to the challenge collection, and links it to your giftee’s request. If you don’t check the box, your assignment will show up as open/incomplete to the admins.

Changing Publication Dates This is important if you’ve posted your work early on in the exchange. That means if, for example, you’ve posted your work on May 10th, your work will be back on the same page with all the other works that have been posted around that date, even though it’s only revealed on June 1st.

To change the publication date of your work, edit your already posted work, and go to Associations. There, you have to check the Set a different publication date box, which will allow you to change the publication date. We recommend doing that on May 31st/June 1st, since it’s impossible to set a publication date in the future.
