Summary
He was once an excellent doctor. An excellent psychiatrist. Everyone loved him. He was nice, kind, always care for each other, he even got the look. We can say… he was the whole package.
But his glorious days ended in just one night. The night he woke up as a patient in the asylum where he worked, with no memory of why he is there or what he has done.
“Sometimes, some chapters in life are meant to be
flipped over and be burned.”
He grunted.
Eyes shut tight as he curled himself like a baby on a thin mattress covered by a worn-out-now-crumpled sheet. The fingers of his toes curled, visualizing the pain and desperation he felt.
“Why can’t i remember anything...” The words that slipped out from his mouth were no different than the frustration itself. “I didn’t kill them...” he shook his head as tears began to roll, wetting the cloth underneath his cheek. “I didn’t kill them.” He repeated for himself.
“You did, my baby boy.” A stern, confident yet alluring motherly voice added just more weight to the man’s frustration. “You are not a human being, nor even an animal. You are worse.” She added.
The man cried, drowning in his own agony. He mouthed a ‘no’ countless times and whispered them to himself.
“This.” She threw an object onto the table, making a sharp clinging sound as it touched slightly against the surface before bouncing to its rest position. “This is the knife you use to skinned those innocent people. To skinned an 6 years old kid.
“No, i did not skin her.” He shivered. His whole body started to react to the medicines injected into his systems just minutes ago. His skin became paler and cold sweat rolled down his temples.
She stood up, grabbing the knife and walked to the man’s bed.
“Oh, my dear.” She turned the man around to face her and slipped the knife between his clasped hands. He was still cuffed. Wrists and ankles. “Hold it.” She helped him to hold the knife properly, sandwiched between his trembled fingers. “Good boy.” She brushed the man’s cheek with the back of her hand.
His eyes locked on the sharpest tip of the shiny object.
“No... no.” He shook his head. His fingers began to loosen, but the woman quickly noticed it and hold his hand altogether with her own.
“Now... shall we count to three?” She smiled as she brushed back his wetted bangs. “One...”
He withered.
“Two...”
“It wasn’t me...” he mouthed as his eyes began to felt heavier and he slowly lost his strength.
“Three...”
His hand fell on his chest. His fingers totally loosened and his head fell to one side.
“Have a nice sleep, baby boy.”
It was a day-out day on the institution. All patients were supposed to be out on a park behind the building and interact with each other. Including Shin Hoseok, but of course, the institution served something special for him.
Cuffed and guarded.
“(Y/n),” Minhyuk called as he pointed far right. “What’s up with him?”
“Who? Hoseok?” Your eyes followed his finger. Minhyuk nodded and crossed his arms on his chest. “Nothing’s up with him. Why?”
“Nothing, you said? Can’t you see it?” He squinted his eyes and looked at you.
“See what? He’s... just sitting right there, not doing anything. Why with that?”
“True! That is what’s wrong with him! He’s sitting still!” He shouted in his whisper.
“Is it so wrong? I mean, what do you expect him to do when he is all cuffed like that?” You threw your eyes to the cuffs that circling his wrists and ankles.
“But he wasn’t like that last week. He interacted with other patients, especially the one who’s standing right—“
Just before Minhyuk could even finish his sentence, both of you saw Hoseok stood up abruptly and began throwing punches and kicks on his guards, sending almost them all fell to the ground with at least blood dripped from their noses.
“Oh— fuck.” Minhyuk sighed as the siren went on. You saw nurses and even more guards running in the park and taking all the patients into the building.
“Minhyuk, what is this?” You followed Minhyuk, who already walked carefully to get to the door.
“Just, get inside. This Hoseok guy will do something even worse than escaping from his cuffs.” He shouted, tried to get his voice over the siren. “This is why i told you he was up to something!”
You narrowed your eyes and searched for the guy he meant. Looking out far on the crowded park, you finally found where he was.
Running towards the gate with guards following him. He would fight the guards who touched him and got in his way.
You ran towards him. Wanting to— try to talk to him (if that even works).
“Hoseok!” You shouted over the shrilling sound of siren. You heard someone shouted your name and told you to just back off, but you were being you. You do what you want to do.
“Stop right there, Hoseok!” You ran, almost get to where he stood.
He was still throwing punches to the guard when you grabbed his arm and—
“Ugh—“
He got his fist on your jaw and knocked you down right away. Your eyes became heavier and everything slowly turned blurry and dark.
“That’s what she got for trying to became a hero.” You heard a vague voice. Your head was still heavy and your sights were a bit blurry.
“Why is she here anyway? Taking care of that animal.” Another voice you didn’t recognize said.
Their silhouette behind the curtain made you unsure of who were in the room with you.
“For fun. She won’t stand him anyway and my bet, she would quit tomorrow– or, after this incident.” The woman laughed.
“But, aren’t you all too mean to her?” The man sighed. “This is just so wrong.”
“Why suddenly saying this is wrong? Don’t you remember what you did in the first place?” The woman smacked her tongue. “Alright. Let’s go. She’ll wake up in no time and i won’t risk her hearing this stupid conversation.”
Just after that, you heard the door slammed opened and closed.
What is going on?
