Ryan turns and sets a collection of reports down.
“I try and keep an open ear on that when jobs don’t take me that far south. That is data from 20 ships that have come into Torim over the past week. Storms have been on the rare side and the only bad dead-zone being reported is over on southern Illcyia, near Zaphias. At worst that means a long way around to get back to Torim.” Ryan explains, spreading out the reports so Rita could get a good look.
Rita looked through them quickly. They were written much more tersely than the stuff she usually read, so it made it easier.
“OK, so it looks like we can add a more buffer around Zaude if we wanted to be careful. Either way looks fairly smooth. Which is a good thing, because while I’ve brought goodies, none of them are things you want to use often.”
She pulled a cylinder from where it had been strapped to her belt, and placed it on the table. It was followed by a handful of liquid-filled marbles (three in all) that she pulled from one pocket, and a small rectangular case (about as long as Ryan’s hand was wide).
“The cylinder is the only spare Mark Three that we had in Capua Nor. You and I want to save that until we absolutely need it, which I’m thinking is going to be when we’re on the site of the wreck.
“The marbles are officially Mordio Replacement Cores. You might have heard them called Murder Yous. Their activators are in the little box.
“I also have some gels we can pass out to the volunteers, if you’re short of them.”
