After weeks of consideration on how to go about this, I’d like to officially announce that, after this summer, I will be taking a hiatus from writing fanfics. It’s always been my goal to become a published author, and now more than ever I feel like that’s something I’m capable of.
The downside? To truly focus on making this dream come true, I have to step back from fanfics.
But I am not disappearing from tumblr, and I am certainly not disappearing from my ships. In fact, I will be counting on tumblr - and all of you darlings - to continue being my source of encouragement. You all have been a huge factor into why I think I can pursue writing as a career, and I can’t thank you all enough for that kind of support, but I can certainly try! Which is why I’ve created this:
Chanty’s Summer Sendoff (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧
What is this?
Starting September 1 to September 23 (the last day of summer) I will be taking my entire works-in-progress list and filling each of those prompts with:
a 2,500-4,000 word fanfic
a bullet point fic (click for example)
or a headcanon blurb + my sad excuse for a mood board (click for example)
And you darlings will be voting for each set!
Specifically, with the poll I’ve created, you will be voting for the prompts you’d like a 2,500-4,000 word fanfic for, and prompts you’d like a bullet point fic for.
All remaining prompts will automatically receive a headcanon blurb + moodboard. Additionally, a handful of the fanfic and bullet fic winners will randomly receive a moodboard or mini playlist.
Voting will be open from now until June 20 so I can give myself a little over two months to get through everything!
For four ships - Bruce/Selina, Peter/Shuri, Bucky/Wanda, and (of course) Steve/Nat - you will be voting for specific prompts, but don’t worry: those are not the only ships I will be writing for! The poll will also include a section in which you will choose from a list of my “rare” ships that I hardly ever write for. There are 18 ships total involved in this event, so there will be plenty of love going around!

(What is this? Initially it was going to be my “farewell to fanfics” but now it’s just going to be how I clean out every prompt and WIP in my folder for a clean slate.)
As a refresher:

Like I explained in an update, only the bullet point fics and moodboards + headcanon prizes will be completed by the “end” of the sendoff.
The 2,500-4,000 word fanfics will start being posted during the last week of the sendoff but will likely run into October depending on my progress. (Confession: I have not started any of these yet.)
The sendoff will also include the prompts sent in for my six sexy words meme, round vi!
Week One (September 1-7) will include all 13 moodboard + headcanon fills with TWO per day. (Note: one day will end up with only one moodboard + headcanon; this will be a random day!)
Week Two (September 8-14) will include all 23 bullet point fic fills with THREE per day, and 8 of the 16 six sexy words fills with ONE per day. (Note: two days will end up with a bonus bullet point fic fill, and one day will end up with a bonus six sexy words fill; these three days will also be random!)
Week Three (September 15-21) will be the START of the 2,500-4,000 word fanfics and will hopefully have one fic per day, and will also include the other 8 of the 16 six sexy words fills with ONE per day. As I confessed above, I have not started any of the fanfic fills, but will aim to have seven fills ready to go for Week Three. (Note: one day will end up with a bonus six sexy words fill; this day will also be random!)
I’ll also have my Fanfic Free-for-All running for the entirety of the sendoff! Which is just a fun way to say it’s an “ask me anything” about any of my fanfics or headcanons or whatever else that has to do with things I’ve written or planned on writing or might be interested in writing. Nothing is off of the table, “spoiler” or not!

Don’t worry, they are automatically being included in this event as either a bullet point fic or a 700-1,000 word prompt fill. Many of the prompts will be overlapped together seeing as a lot of the same phrases were requested, but I will still be including at least one fill for every ship requested.

I MISS YOU DARLINGS and also I have an announcement and it’s that, long story short, I’m 99.99% positive I’m not going on a fanfic-hiatus anymore but I’m still doing the summer sendoff (but, modified) and I won’t be as quick and active as I was before but. Yeah. I’m still writing. I’ve realized that I can actually balance both fanfics and my “actual” writing really well? So why give one up?
When I announced the Summer Sendoff I started receiving quite a few requests to talk about and include some of my other alternate universes that hadn’t been featured on the list of prompts to vote for.
First of all, I didn’t meant to exclude any favorites! The voting list was based on current fanfics I had in the works, so unfortunately that meant that some of my classics simply never made it on there since I hadn’t been working on anything new for them at the time.
But that got me wondering if anyone has been curious about my fanfics - or maybe even my nextgen - and, if you are, what questions did you have?
So that brought me to this!
All summer long, I will answer any and every question you have, whether it’s a “spoiler” or not, on any and everything I have ever written. Obviously I won’t be giving away what I’m working on for the event itself, but anything else is fair game! I’ve already got a couple questions sitting in my inbox right now that inspired this in the first place, and I’ll be answering them after I post this to get the ball rolling.
Ask me anything about plot any or any ship!
Got a fanfic idea you thought I could write? I’ll tell you how I would have plotted it. Want to know what I had cooking for those other ships I love and hardly wrote for? Almost every ship had at least two or three ideas I considered exploring.
What exactly is the TV plot for the #Marvelous ‘verse? How did I see the season or series finale ending? What are Nat and Doctor Steve up to these days in the #civilian ‘verse? What about Officer Bucky and Waitress Wanda? Who else would I have included in the #vampire ‘verse? Would there have been any other supernatural creatures? (Spoiler: yes, there would have!) What about the #soldier ‘verse - did you know this was a concept I tried writing out that just never quite made it all the way? Probably not, because I never wanted to spoil it in case that story saw the light of day.
Well, you get the picture.
While I’m probably the only one itching to share every single thing I’ve been holding onto, I hope at least a few of you are curious!

To absolutely no one’s surprise, rather than working through my writer’s block on my current fanfics, I’m doing another round of the six sexy words meme. This is partially to celebrate @romanogersweek but mostly to make up for the fact that I couldn’t finish a fanfic in time to properly participate.
Send a prompt and a ship and I’ll write you something short and smutty.

Just the other day, I made a quick post about not actually going on hiatus after all - sorry for the drama! - but now it’s officially-official. I won’t be as active and post as often as I did in the past, but I’ll be switching gears and writing more fanfics rather than drabbles. But don’t worry! I’m not getting rid of drabble events entirely, and in fact, I’ll be lining up a new one for the holidays - but I’m going to dial it down with them in general. They’re so much fun, but they also become a lot bigger of an undertaking than I always intend for them to be, so we’ll hit the breaks on those for a long while after the holidays this year.
So what does that mean for the Summer Sendoff?
It’s still happening, but with a few minor tweaks:
I’m changing the dates back to September 1-23 for all bullet point fics and moodboard + headcanon prizes as initially planned.
Some of the moodboard + headcanon prizes may be altered to substitute the moodboard piece, simply because the prompt didn’t translate well with images. I’m still working on what to do with these, but don’t worry, it’s only three or four being tweaked.
The 2,500-4,000 word fanfics will begin being posted in September but will not be finished before September 23; I will likely have all of them finished by mid- to late-October. I have a decent idea of when I’ll be finishing prompts, but I became busier than expected and simply fell behind when it came to starting these.
Likewise, the six sexy words prompts that I included in the Summer Sendoff will begin being posted in September but may or may not be done before September 23; I will likely have them all posted before the end of September. I won’t be getting to every single prompt like I intended to, but I will be getting to every single ship because we had a great variety for this round of prompts and I want to celebrate that!
Once it gets closer to September, I’ll probably have a calendar up of when to expect which prize.
We’re 16 days away! I hope everyone is ready for the steady stream of shipping fluff because it may be a while before I can be so active in writing and posting once the Summer Sendoff is through.
