if you really do care about Black people it’s absolutely, incredibly important that you don’t excuse or otherwise minimize the racism they actively call out.
no, you cannot excuse someone’s racism as them just saying something stupid.
if you care about Black people, then you fucking listen when we tell you someone is racist, has a history of racism, etc. the MOMENT you try to excuse it as “they didn’t know” or “they just said something stupid” etc, you no longer actually care.
it gets so, so very exhausting for us when we call out racism and if they’re a popular creator, voice actor, what have you, we immediately get given excuses for their goddamn racism, like it magically makes it okay for them to be racist.
racism has no excuse. racism has NEVER had an excuse. stop making excuses for racism. especially stop doing that just because they made something you like(cough MICHAEL KOVACH wheeze GOOSEWORX). that’s even WORSE.
