I really don't like seeing people shove the Chaotix into those stale "father and 2 sons" boxes. Not only is that not the point, but also it has the side effect of really infantilizing Espio.

I read a short fic somewhere where Vector had to go in some bar for an investigation, and Espio and Charmy were left outside, not because someone needs to monitor Charmy, but because they were both minors. That was the in fic stated reason why Vector left them out. Not even an enforced rule for the bar itself. and it's like. Man. Yknow Vector falls below the legal drinking age too. He'd get IDed to hell and back. It feels disrespectful. Vector and Espio are meant to be equals, especially during cases. I quit reading I was frowning so hard.

The dynamic can be good in moderation I think, I've definitely seen fans do it in a way that feels natural and fun. But I've also seen fans put so much distance between Vector and Espio in the name of those little nuclear family boxes, to the point where it doesn't even feel like the Chaotix anymore. Is this understandable. I do not like it. Take them out of those boxes right now you are hurting them.

I was so excited to see the Charmy and Shadow interactions in Crossworlds because like

Shadow was real patient with him back in the 2005 game, and it's kinda obvious that Charmy thinks he's like the most awesome guy ever.

But alas.

I get that this is rival dialogue here, and it's all meant to rile each other up, but that comeback is so insanely harsh compared to what Charmy said. Hurt my soul a bit honestly. NEVER meet your heroes 💔 🥀

What is it about the Chaotix that makes Sonic fans want to fixate on their ages so much. Like noticeably more than they do any other Sonic character. I swear I see a post mentioning Espio being 16 every week, and yet I feel like it's been years since anyone mentioned Knuckles being the same age. Amy is 12 but fans don't really talk about that anymore outside of design critique. I have genuinely completely forgotten how old Silver and Blaze are. Nobody feels the need to mention it. Is this a phenomenon other people are noticing or am I just insane. I feel insane.

With every new casefile part, Charmy sounds a little more like minnie mouse and it's slowly sapping away my life force. I can't stand it. This voice is so shitty. He would not sound like that. Little boys do not sound like that.

These casefiles have such cool content for every other character, but every time Charmy has the spotlight it's excruciating. He has some good jokes and there's an entire self confidence subplot going on with him but I can't focus on it because every time he speaks for more than one sentence my ears start forcibly closing themselves. I cannot fathom how this performance ever passed through quality control.

Chaotix Casefiles was never really about the Chaotix huh. Figures. What a huge disservice to my boys.

I love this panel from the Halloween Special comic because you can just look at Espio and Vector and you can 100% tell they're thinking "oh my god. Maybe we aren't such horrible parents after all." (Not that I think they are even remotely horrible but I do think it must be an occasional insecurity for them.)

I want you all to understand the gravity of a six year old WILLINGLY missing trick-or-treat, knowing damn well he isn't gonna get another chance at free candy (FULL SIZE BARS) for another year. 1 year is like 5 years for a kid his age. And he quoted their motto while doing it. I know Vector and Espio must have been so proud.

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn sonic but I’m coming back swinging because I figured out a way to draw Vector in my style. Nothing can scare me anymore. I have seen hell. By the way, he has no headphones on because driving with headphones is Illegal. The Chaotix can’t afford a traffic ticket.
