Meet Incoming Freshman Noelle Johnson

Hometown: Faribault, Minnesota Major: Biological Sciences & Honors

Having grown up in San Diego and later moving to Minnesota, Noelle is excited to get back to her Southern California roots while attending Chapman University, where she considers herself lucky to have already met so many amazing, talented people. Noelle, a competitive swimmer (Top 15 in the state of Minnesota!) who has spent nearly four years as a lifeguard and swim instructor, hopes to discover more about her personal talents while she’s at Chapman, and plans on attending medical school after graduation so that she can pursue her dream of becoming a trauma surgeon for an international non-profit organization, or working within the UN. Noelle, an advocate for living a healthy lifestyle, enjoys reading, writing, painting and drawing, and volunteering (one of her favorite opportunities thus far has been through Freedom Farms, a nationally recognized therapeutic riding stable). The one thing that Noelle is the most passionate about in life is striving to find the beauty and purpose in all things, and she’s looking forward to doing just that at Chapman University.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to or visited? Barcelona

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why? Northern Ireland & the Scottish Highlands- I began reading about these areas around 4th grade, and ever since I have been completely enamored with the culture, music, and mythology of the region. My family is descended from this area, so I’ve always wanted to connect with my heritage.

If you could meet anyone in history (alive or dead) who would it be in why? Ernest Hemingway- Farewell to Arms is one of my favorite books ever written, and he was such an interesting character himself, living in Paris during one of the most influential times in literature, that I would have so much to ask!
