Updates: Early JTTW Play, Heavenly War Horses, and Korean JTTW Statues
My laptop is back from the repair shop, so I've been updating my blog with archived papers.
Update #1 - Early Ming Zaju Play Journey to the West
I added two papers to an existing article. They analyze an early Ming play that predates the 1592 edition of JTTW.

Update #2 - The Heavenly Horses of Ferghana
I added two papers discussing the "heavenly horses" (cared for by Sun Wukong in ch. 4) and their background as a historical breed from Ferghana, an area/city in Central Asia. The first shows they were associated with dragons, meaning the White Dragon Horse was not the invention of the author-compiler of JTTW. The second refutes a statement in the first paper suggesting Han Emperor Wu procured the horses for religious reasons. They were in fact prized war horses.

Update #3 - The Journey to the West Japsang Effigies of Korean Royal Palaces
I added a French paper with an English translation about clay roof figurines believed to protect Korean royal palaces from fire and evil spirits. The first four (of up to eleven) figures are associated with Xuanzang, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing.
