Yamamoto Shigekuni Genryusai had fallen.
The death knell that had been the fluctuation of his reiatsu staggering and then suddenly flickering out in a fashion which was for all the world like watching the last flickering wisps of a tongue of flame dancing upon the end of its wick. Swiftly, it reverberated throughout the entire world in the one singular moment when the old man had fallen beneath the sweeping cut of the enemy’s blade. The candle may have still borne a taper to it, a stoutness of body formed over the ages — but the guttering of its presence was sudden as a puff of wind cutting it off. With that occurrence, darkness rushed in to fill the void. In that moment, all that Shunsui knew was that the world as he had known it was over and gone. He had felt that shock, that jolting power suddenly rushing through him and over him before they had snuffed it out without so much as a warning.
