Chapter 1 Page 22 redraw in my style 💕
Gotta do some more pages from chapter 1! I found some super cute Mika and Yuu interactions there 😊
OG page for comparison - I definately changed some stuff up, to suit my style and also to make it a little easier to draw. If you didnt know already, backgrounds aint my forte!
saw kaneki on my dash and felt ✨i n s p i r e d✨
Woah old art but I think this was a chapter redraw from StarChaser?? Anyway it looks hella nice even for now so here you go -Rio 🌺
Well, I don't think Furuta was chasing them around and carrying the steel beams with him all the while. It's kind of weird.
Not only that, he must have had super strength in order to do that.
But to some extent I do believe that there was more going on than what met the eye. Like, for example, did Furuta know that they would pass that alleyway? Because that could explain the girders as some sort of staging. If he blindly followed them around (I mean, without carrying the beams around, of course :’’D ), then he would’ve needed to put far too much reliance on the tools he found along the way, and it’s not like any tool would critically injure a ghoul all the while convincingly make it look like an incident to the human eye… The steel beams were probably part of the plan. Though I’m not sure what this implies, exactly. Had he been following Rize before the accident, trying to get acquainted with her usual hunting grounds, or…?
What are her thoughts about the redraw?
She commented mostly on two things. One being that she doesn’t believe Hide was trying to tell Kaneki that he’s a ghoul (she agrees with my interpretation of that exchange) and the other was about Furuta and the steel beams. Like someone already pointed out here on tumblr, she noted that in the redraw Rize chases Kaneki for a much longer distance than in the original version, and she wondered how Furuta knew that they would still end up in that construction site. I guessed that maybe Furuta was just following them around until the right occasion presented, but she still looked unconvinced. We didn’t come up with a proper theory though, because neither of us are that good at guessing Furuta’s motives, and later we got sidetracked by talking about Hide and Marude’s relationship.
Ok, so was it only on the English translation of the redraw that Hide says ghoul in quotation marks when talking about the ghoul closest to Kaneki? Cause I know you just dealt with that other ask saying that Hide might be a villain, but if it's not just in the English scans then it might actually be relevant. What I mean is that when he uses the quotes, maybe he meant that all the characteristics attributed to the stereotypical ghoul (bloodthirsty, monster, etc) might apply to him?
He doesn’t use quotation marks in the original Japanese text. [Ref here!].
Anyway, I don’t know if you read it or not, but I already explained my interpretation of that scene (as well as a more general analysis on the remake as a whole) in this post here, if you were interested in my opinion.
About the redraw, in the panel where ken is saying, is hide telling me he's a ghoul?, who is he talking to? Himself? Bc Touka was right THERE
Yes, in that panel Kaneki was indeed talking to himself.
