In the end, Jules straightened up her spine and marched over to Arven with her chin held high. “I know I’m late, but—” she started to explain, but the man held up his hand to silence her.
“No excuses, Miss Elwood.” No matter how quiet or soft he spoke, it echoed off the walls and could be heard even in the most noisiest of places in the palace. “Go pick your weapon,” Arven instructed. Without wanting to disappoint the man even more, she obeyed her teacher and strolled over to the side of the room where the weapons were displayed.
Not many Silvers used handheld weapons, since most were dependent on their powers for protection. Since she had a disadvantage when it came to wielding powers, Jules was stuck with having a weapon on her at all times. She always made sure to carry a steel dagger either in her boot or strapped onto her leg whenever she was forced to wear a dress. It was for her own safety, and she highly doubted that a noble Silver would risk their life defending an “incapable” girl such as herself.
Silvers don’t go out of their way to protect someone who is a Red in their eyes.
