Okay I love the angst this question creates. How would the ROs reac to the MC saying; "You're cute!" then pausing to look at them smiling and asking; "Why are you single?"

okay so starting off with The Reverie, I think E would probably smirk and laugh and say something along the lines of "thank you, sweet heart. But nothing, not heaven or earth, compares to you." but to the second part... asking E why they're single would most likely kill them and man ... that's a hard thought.

With Alice, a sudden comment like that would break that facade of cool aloofness she carries. She may even blush but would be quick to brush it off and offer something flirty in return, in a way that makes you wonder if she means her teasing or if she's just trying to play your own game. Trying to flirt with Alice is a lot like playing a game of chess. You have to think five moves ahead or you've already lost. If the MC is feeling confident in this game of mental chess and decides to ask why she's single, she won't dignify that question with a response and instead will move onto a new subject.

As for Cain, this comment WOULD leave him bumbling and flushed but he'd very quickly tell the MC that they were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen and remind MC that he doesn't think he's much to write home about. At the question, Cain would probably stutter and act tough and say something about how he's too busy.

And for Silas, they would very quickly say "oh, i know i'm much more than cute." and the question as to why they're single would yield a simple wink and an offer to remedy that situation.

jake n silas: "Like you even care."

A punch would have hurt less. Still, Silas reeled-- shamefully he glanced down, hiding the sting that threatened green eyes. It wasn’t an uncommon phrase for Jake, in fact, it was probably one of his top ten with more than three syllables, but the blow of being the receiving end of it made him wince. 

Maybe he was tired, but his jaw clenched, hiding the waver that threatened to make his voice less steady when he stood up for himself. Cole was right, he was nothing but soft. 

“How could you even say that?”

In a group of the most selfish people he’d ever met, his deepest desire was to give. His hands reached out, squaring with Jake’s shoulders to give him a shove-- to taunt him enough to swing. 

“Of all these friends of ours, I’ve never given up on you.” Their pitbull, a dog with a bite likely bigger than the atrophied heart within his ribs, they’d all been guilty of letting go of his leash.

Green eyes flashed dark, recalling the bigger boy’s retreating back as he raced after Dom at that fateful picnic summers ago, “I don’t think you could say the same about me.”

"Can you be anymore obvious?"

“Can you be anymore obvious?”

“What is this, an Avril Lavigne concert?” Silas’ reply was testy, offered perhaps a second too fast– but it was the casual glance over his shoulder that prompted an even wider grin from his companion. 

“He’s not looking at you.”

The redhead sighed, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. Cole was right, but he was triumphant about it, peering easily over his head to give the gentleman in question an appraising glance. “He’s cute, right?” Last week’s conquest, an awkward ending to an excellent night, Silas was still stained red from recognition just a moment before. 

“Yeah, and he’s coming over.” The widened horror in emerald eyes made Cole laugh. “Let’s dip.”

Dom & Silas "Don’t let me die"

“Don’t let me die.”

It was a quiet confession, but it was enough to make Silas lift his head from the grass. With knitted brows he looked down at the blonde who tilted her face toward the warmth of the California sun, the absolute image of beauty and youth. He loved her, though he suspected that everyone who knew her did. Dark lashes tangled as she fluttered open her eyes and for the glimpse of sea coloured eyes, he could only offer a smile and the barest of promises. 

“Never.”

“I’ve fallen from grace.”

“Haven’t we all?” Silas flopped dramatically into Dom’s bed, thick cushions swallowing up his body-- he fought valiantly to get his head above memory foam. It was with a disgruntled expression that he finally found the blonde’s face, the worry that had formerly creased it now smoothing into laughter, a hand reaching to tug him free. The red haired boy jolted back, making her tumble in beside her; curving his friend safe by his side. 

“What’ve you done now? Can I vlog about it?”

His morning had been a wreck, Dom had skyped him at three AM, California time about the end of a party that he was sorely missing; he'd been subject to her babbling fondly, it wasn't her fault that she didn't realize it was nearly six in the morning for him, that he had classes to attend to right after he hung up. She signed off with a sleepy, I love you, telling him to get some rest, that he looked like hell-- and it was enough to make his heart ache hollowly, half of his soul was back in the sunny streets of a neighbourhood whose name was too ridiculous to commit to paper, it was present in four other people who now scattered the continent, living lives that he was no longer a part of.

It had been stupid to attempt such a thing, and now Silas was curled up on a mat, his cheek pressed against the smooth surface of the sheet. He whined a little, moving hurt and he was no martyr. Within reach and eyesight was his water— with a wedge of lemon in it of course and his phone, which he grappled for manically. Dom’s number was memorized, he didn’t even have to rely on his contacts to type it out, pressing the mobile to his ear. The nice thing about the blonde was that she always answered right away and when the ring tone died, he rushed to speak before her. “You can’t laugh at me,” he said, wincing as he tried to sit up. “But I think I pulled something. Come to mine so you can ride in the ambulance.”
