I'm so tired of Chara themes sounding like Megalo Strike Back 2.0. They do it for any Chara game, any Chara fan track. Storyshift is especially targeted, both due to Chara's role essentially making people think "So, megalo strike back x megalovania" and due to F*cing Demons.

I dislike it so much. None of the themes I've listened to fit Chara. That might be because I have a very specific idea of them in my brain but idk.

(Be aware I'm not a musician: I'm just a person with strong opinions)

So here's my hot takes for what instruments would fit Chara INSTEAD of the electric guitar/whatever is used in Megalo:

-piano

-organ

-glockenspiel

-handpan

-waterphone

Tunes that can be used/referenced outside of MSB/MV:

-Once upon a time

-Determination (Surprised I haven't heard if yet)

-Undertale Beta Theme intro

-Star (unused track)

- Honorable mention: Black from Homestuck (I love the intro so much)

My True Reflection: The People Have Spoken

Well, it seems the people have spoken in regards to Chara's battle theme against both Kris in the Light World and against the Roaring Knight in the Chapter Three arc. Presenting... DOUBLE-EDGED BLADE!!!!!

Additionally, I have decided to back pedal on the implementation of the usage of Kriselle Knight in my fic, and have reverted my plans to instead implement Dess Knight, as after giving it some more thought, I feel like Kris being forced to work with FRIEND and the Knight to save December Holiday, an incident that was their own doing, makes for a far more compelling and understandable narrative.

Rest assured, I will create a fic at some point that utilizes Kriselle Knight.

storyshift chara hits harder than canon ut sans. ily sans undertale but chara has always been my all time favorite character and in storyshift they’re so COOL. chara being the judge and the only human underground prior to frisk. in the geno run, chara dying by frisk’s hands and feeling their distaste for humanity proven one last time. feeling as though they failed the monsters that protected them for so long. come ON. come on. i love you storyshift.

i think toriel in storyshift (role of undyne) is fueled by the rage over asriel’s death, but the blind anger ended up being her demise. asgore hiding away is chara’s last hope (which also implies a king asgore ending to storyshift) for monsterkind before leaving to fight the human themselves. i like to think it as a self sacrificial thing, they’d been hidden away by asgore, but snuck out to try and defend the people that had cared for them for so long. one last chance, their determination can’t overcome the human’s but it exists.

chara being a light of hope for monsterkind and then failing to save them. it would mess them up i think. i love you storyshift chara

also im pretty sure it’s not their canon design but the bad time trio chara is peak. i haven’t seen the comic in ages but i remember loving chara
