Rant under the cut about the current Poth situation under the cut.

I keep seeing people trying to stop the like 3 remaining Poth shippers from drawing fanart

I keep seeing main tagged posts calling Poth a proship. And claiming that Poth shippers are bad people for shipping it.

Recently, I saw mutuals share the sentiment, which really breaks my heart.

Every few months, some random person makes a post claiming that we should "stop ignoring the facts". Every time, I think we should start ignoring them even more.

Listen. I'm turning 21 and I have a job.

Poth brings me comfort because I've always seen it as childhood friends to lovers. Yes, Goth's OG creator supports horrible shit. But I will not pretend that in the years of liking it, that fact was common knowledge. I liked it because to me, they met as children and grew up together.

Every few months, people are trying to bring up information that to me is irrelevant.

My Poth is not a proship.

I am not a proshipper.

"But it's different bc it's a ship and it's canonically bad!!"

It was never canonically bad. Art by either creators usually treated them as if they were the same age. There was never any intention or mention of grooming.

We do not need to make this a bigger issue than it is.

Most Poth shippers do not support grooming and do not make art with that idea in mind.

But, okay, if you're so insisting on a witch hunt, let's start dogpiling every other person who draws problematic characters:

(I would like to preface my following statements with an acknowledgement that they're hyperbolic: I don't actually want anyone to be harassed, and I will personally still be depicting said characters)

We should all stop drawing Killer, and Dust, for depicting mental illnesses in such a horrible and inaccurate way. Not to mention the Chara misconceptions. As a Chara fan, I say we should burn every person who even thinks of drawing either of them at the stake.

That point can also be said about Geno. Geno's story depicts Chara as a villain too. Villainizing children is bad. Not to mention he admits to wanting to hurt said child.

Error is a murderer canonically. Seeing people draw him makes me sick.

And Fresh? Fresh is possessing a corpse, something that is acknowledged multiple times. And he can canonically censor words, I don't think we should be spreading art of someone who is silencing people!

We should also kill Horror. We know what their creator draws with him and Aliza on their Patreon. And even if that wasn't the case, the fact that he canonically abuses a child in his OG comic is Horrific.

Quick, think, who else is cancel worthy.

Epic is canonically attracted to Frisk while acknowledging they're a child, I don't EVER want to see people drawing him again. But, he's also canonically dead so I GUESS you can draw his corpse.

Lust Sans.

Ink's story can be interpreted to support him taking drugs, meaning that his creator supports drug use and that Ink himself does drugs. Nobody ever draw Ink again.

I don't want to see people draw Dream. His creator, Joku draws Dream looking like a child while shipping him with adults. Never draw Dream in ships, or at all. And extend that to Nightmare. Nightmare is problematic too. He is an immortal being possessing a child's body. Any ship involving him is inheritly pedophilic.

Don't draw or mention Cross either. Jakei and Joku are friends, first of all, and Jakei draw a comic where Cross sexually assaults Dream. And since we're on the topic of Jakei, we should stop supporting Underverse in it's entirety.

Actually, you know what? Everyone quickly dogpile Toby Fox himself. He shipped a monster and a human (Gerson and the human Gerson talks about), that means he supports beastiality! And he made a rock opera about a 13 year old getting pregnant from another 13 year old tro give birth to his also 13 year old old best friend! He made 2 games where you can choose to force children to kill people! I can't believe we have this man TWO fandoms!!!2!!

Back to my original point.

Please, for the love of God, stop caring so much. I may not identify with proshippers bc I feel like there's a difference between complicated pairings that could be interesting, and literal child rape. (Please ffs don't call me a comshipper bc of that either, if anything call me a lifeshipper bc I have a life, job and hobbies)

So uh apparently Poth is a proship explained by a TikTok video by @/yeloenk and I just want to hear you thoughts on it

Keep in mind, I’m a fandom veteran. Whatever you’ve felt while in fandom culture, I went through too.

I’m gonna put this in short and then put my whole thoughts after watching the first and follow up videos. In short, and probably the worst sounding, I don’t care. Creators being creeps isn’t a first for me, I’ve been in fandom culture since the 2010s. I’ve been at this for a while. So. Yeah. Goth’s canon is absolutely Chris Hanson worthy, very “what the fuck do you mean he’s 20 but looks and acts like 5 or something and crushes on a 12 year old what the fuck is wrong with you, straight to jail” but come on. Do I look like someone who cares about canon?

While I respect their and anyone else’s discomfort with the character and ship, don’t tell other people how to interact with media. Of any kind. I very much disagree with their sentiment of “stop trying to fix Poth because the canon is bad” because it creates this moral dilemma over something that in the end, does not matter. Like, people rewrite bad media all the time. It doesn’t benefit the creator, it doesn’t matter, save your freak out for something that does. Don’t waste your energy and guilt on a fan child of a ship between two versions of Sans the fuckin skeleton. Everything in this fandom is subjective. There is no canon. Have fun with it.

You’re all entitled to your own opinions about the character and the ship, but I’m not gonna stop playing dolls just because the person who made the doll was a weirdo creep. I am too old to be worrying about this shit. I got my own problems so I’m electing to not make this one of them. Don’t cause problems for people who also choose not to make this a problem, that will make a major ass out of you and waste your energy. Don’t waste your energy on self righteous anger. It’s not worth it.

My version of Palette and Goth are physically and mentally around 16. They look and act like stupid and emotionally inept teenagers because that’s what they are. I will remind everyone that I will always view teenagers as tall children with extra baggage. If you are a teenager, you are a tall child with extra baggage. If someone tells you otherwise, they’re either also a tall child or someone who should be on a list.

I’m going to keep exploring Poth as a ship. If you don’t, that’s fine. If you don’t like it, you have the tools to not have to look at it. I tag everything as accurately as possible. Look at what you do like. Protect your own peace. You’ll have a better time in fandom if you do. Seriously. Take it from me. We have enough problems as it is.

I watched a 2-year-old for the weekend. Mom claims 2yo is pretty emotional and cries often. Don’t really see that during stay. Occasional normal kid stuff but always resolved quickly. I noticed she occasionally asked to play on her iPad but as a babysitter I felt it was more responsible for me to say “not right now, we’re going to [activity, game, tidy up].” So there was no iPad or TV for three days. And a lot of it was independent play. She would color and read and play with toys without me for long stretches. (Once she told me she was “busy” and she was just observing a keychain and taking in its contours.)

Her mom and dad return and give her iPad on first request. She plays with it peacefully while adults talk. Mom moves to take it away for bedtime and it’s immediate tantrum. Screaming and crying tears. The screaming continues all the way to bathtime and bed. Mom and Dad have to cajole her with a snack and lots of attention for about twenty minutes before her crying stops.

Now, I want to be fair to these parents: toddler is overwhelmed by Mom and Dad returning from a, by her standards, “long” time away. It’s getting late, toddler is tired and maybe actually did need that snack. Toddlers also just act different around babysitters than they do mom and dad.

But for a toddler who was a pleasant and attentive kid for three days to dissolve into tantrum of that length as soon as she is reunited with and then separated from her iPad freaks me out. She is not a teen upset she can’t communicate with her friend. She’s not even a grade-schooler who didn’t save their Minecraft world. She’s a toddler who is distressed by being separated from an overstimulation machine.

Her parents have convinced themselves it’s a tool and a convenience by handing it to her and gaining silence at mealtimes and car rides and every request when she’s a bright kid who can spend just as much time with a book as with a screen, with much less distress at separation.

Idk, maybe there are people out there who are actually having great experiences with their kids with iPads but if I wasn’t turned off from iPads before, damn I am now. I felt so WEIRD and UPSET seeing that sweet kid scream like that. It was totally against everything I knew about her personality, but totally in line with everything her mom had warned me about.

Theyd all look like they've crawled out of the grave. The ones who'd look put together would be Nightmare, Cross and Killer but they'd still be covered in scars and just generally look like they've been through hell and back

Horror should be scarily thin, maybe even zombie-esque because that's not too far off anyways... Side Shave... (For Obvious Reasons) He should also have a compulsive disorder or two (Skin picking, nail biting, hair pulling, Idk, up to you) to replace his bad habit of scratching inside his eye socket, he keeps his tappy stim though and I actually think maybe he should keep his nails because... Sharp... And tappy sounds too but Idc

Ink gets temporary tattoos he changes out all the time, hell, I'll let him use mehndi, he'd rock it, that and maybe even piercings, huge fan of body art in general, he styles his hair differently all the time (Mostly because he doesn't remember how he was wearing it before and takes it as a chance to get creative, especially when he lets it get LONG)

I think the bad skeles would be so much more lousy about keeping their hair (Obviously, which sucks because Killer looks killer with long hair, give him a messy bun Idk) and it gets in the way of fights sometimes but the Stars have their hair up (Ink sticks are utensils in a messy bun), maybe Nightmare bothers them the most about being well kept so they perform better because wtf...

Cross Is Anemic. I have a stupid reason for why I say this but it's just so much funnier if I don't explain. 😭 (Realistically he wouldn't be considering a royal guard would be expected to be in tip top shape, he takes the best care of himself out of the neutral to negative range of skeles, er... Humers...

Who do we think gets the most cavities, my bets are on Dust 💔 That man stank but it's okay, they all do (Nightmare throws them all into a lake at some point which either helps or makes it worse, Cross watches and is thankful he's at least somewhat put together)

Dream tries to take care of himself but honestly isn't... The greatest at it, he might get stress induced acne (Or none at all due to his nature), but the MTT + Cross + Error probably do
