You can absolutely continue to like Harry Potter and to consume Harry Potter merch and media, even doll collabs or DIY dolls.

You just have to also accept that you are an unsafe person by default, because your enjoyment of a thing that can be replaced is in support of a deeply racist, antisemitic, transphobic woman who uses the money and visibility she gets from her franchise to dehumanize trans people in hopes of one day making it illegal for them to exist.

Like, make the doll, buy the merch. Do you. Just don't expect the marginalized people in your life to trust you anymore afterward.

I love seeing someone have a beloved character whom they recreate in all different sizes and brands/sculpts of dolls that they feel capture the raw essence of said character. 5-10 different kinds of dolls of the same character? I think it’s fun!

I also think I didn’t help pay for any of those dolls so it’s none of my business how they spend their doll money.

That kind of character devotion feels really like love to me.

When I was a teenager I fell in love with a character in a movie so much that I had handsewn the character into a chibi plush and carried it everywhere. Then I grew up and my plush got lost in my parents' house somewhere. Fast forward to today, I'm currently turning that character into a ball-jointed doll. I hope we find the plush again so I can have both of them together 🥰❤️
