My Opinion on Certain Things

First of, the Red Wedding shouldn’t have happened. It’s wasteful and the only reason the author gave for it was that he wanted to subvert expectations. I spit on that reason. I spit on it thoroughly. Moreover, he says that he ‘views his characters as his children’. I spit on that too. If he really viewed his characters as his children, then he wouldn’t have killed off so many of them.

And finally, if he doesn’t want fanfiction, then he really shot himself in the foot right there. The reason most fans of his series write fanfiction is because they are unhappy with the way he wrote certain things or the fact that he killed off characters they liked. If he didn’t, fans would have no reasons to write fanfiction and there would be a lot less fanfiction about his series then there is now.

Come at me with torches and pitchforks for criticizing your golden author’s choices if you would like. Someone has to state the obvious, and I did. And I don’t regret any of it.

Angsty guys...seriously...I cried writing this. Character deaths but only mentioned, not described.

Cas finally, fully accepts Dean will not return his love.

It’s okay.

He still does love him as a brother. That’s good enough.

At least Dean will be in his life.

It’s ok.

His heart is full.

He’s happy.

There’s a split second of searing pain and then everything goes dark.

Jack’s there, in the darkness.

The Empty accepts Cas’ offer and Jack disappears.

Except the Empty leaves Cas awake this time.

It’s not much later when he hears him.

“Cas? Jack – Jack told me what you did, you asshole.”

Dean’s praying to him.

“I don’t know what you were thinking you sonofabitch.  I don’t want – dammit Cas, why? Didn’t you know?”

And Cas’ heart freezes.

“I loved you too, you stupid angel.”

Dean knows Cas can hear him.

He knows he can’t respond.

Although Cas tries over and over, he never connects.

Dean prays every day. Cas listens to Dean’s stories and smiles, imagining them together.

Years pass and Dean shares his days with Cas.

Every day. Usually he’s crying. 

But he gets better over time, Cas thinks.

Dean shares his joys, shares his sadness.

The changes in his life.

He prays every single day.

Nothing changes for Cas.

Darkness.

Completely alone except for Dean’s voice.

Shares when Jack graduates college and thanks Cas in his Valedictorian speech. Not a dry eye in the whole place. Sam especially.

Cas is proud.

Dean shares when Sam dies in his sleep at age 79.

Still continues to share for many years after.

Cas loves it, so does Dean.

It makes Cas’ existence bearable.

But then...the day Cas has been dreading finally comes.

His head echoes with the silence.

Death is an option: Leena or another character...

You can read below the cut or not. But, if a character (Artie, Pete, Myka, Claudia, Mrs. F, HG, Jinks, Leena) on Warehouse 13  has to die and stay dead, only of those 8, whose death would be easier on you/would you prefer?

Of them, I can easily accept Leena's death and not be nearly as bothered by it as I would be any of the others.

I love Warehouse 13 but often times I look at posts in the tag and all the freaking out and think, Most of these fans did not watch shows like LOST, or any show where they killed off even minor characters and those characters stayed dead, like I did. Shows like LOST, where character deaths, major or minor, were always permanent even though there were a few ghostly appearances. Shows where they killed every damn body. Shows like LOST where a devastating blood bath would occur at any given point during the season over the course of six years. W13's Jack Kenny does not have a damn thing on LOST's Lindelof & Cuse.

IMO, Warehouse 13 fans do not have a damn thing to complain about if Leena stays dead. Artie survived being blown up in the S1 finale then being shot in the S2 finale, HG & Mrs. F's deaths were avoided by the use of the astrolabe, & Jinks was resurrected via the metronome. Would anyone have rathered that any of these other deaths stick than Leena's?

Leena's backstory wasn't explored? Do you know how many LOST characters were killed without their stories being addressed? All the secrets of the island that were never revealed? Chill. Even if Leena's dead, I would expect that even if Artie doesn't know much (which I call bullshit on), I'm sure that Mrs. Frederic does and we can always learn more about Leena via Mrs. F playing exposition fairy.

Regarding character deaths, this season and last...

I've never particularly cared for Leena and I understand that she had her purpose at the Warehouse but for me she has always been an after thought and I don't feel like her bond with the rest of the Warehouse personnel, aside from Mrs. Frederic, was as strong or evident as the bonds that the agents have with each other. If a character has to die and stay dead, I prefer for it to be her rather than any of the others.

If Leena's truly dead and her death sticks, will I be happy? Yes, I will, but only partially because I do not like the character and have no use for her. Mostly I will be happy because, while I like/love Jinks, Mrs. F, & HG and I'm glad that they were resurrected or their deaths were undone and then avoided by the use of the astrolabe, as much as I didn't want any of them to die, that in the time between when "Emily Lake/Stand" aired last fall and "An Evil Within" this summer, I had been hoping that the Warehouse team would have to fully deal with the reality and permanence of a death of one of their own, one of the "good guys." Mourning and the fallout, having to deal with death on that level and accept it and eventually move on needs to happen since the show has made such a big deal about the dangers of working at/for the Warehouse and that agents end up dead or crazy and everyone has had numerous brushes with death.

Was Leena's death tragic? Yes, but I'm not going to miss the character if she stays dead.

I am sad because of what's happened to Artie as the downside of using the astrolabe and how devastated he's going to be when he finds out what he's done--not only to Leena but to everyone else.
