AGOT- Catelyn I
It’s gotta be kinda weird going from a place where your religion one to somewhere it isn’t. I wonder if she’s ever bonded with any of the Manderlys over the Seven.
“[the godswood] was a dark, primal place, […]. It smelled of moist earth and decay. This was a place of deep silence and brooding shadows,”
She was not kidding when she said she didn’t like it. Just reading this makes me uncomfortable.
And Ned having a sept built for her. I love that and I love them.
“In the south the last weirwoods had been cut down or burned out a thousand years ago,”
I might be remembering wrong, but didn’t Alysanne say that a lot of southron houses still had them during her trip to the north, or was she just talking about the godswoods. Because if it’s the former, that would a few hundred years ago at best, likely less.
“Is [Rickon] afraid?”
“A little. He is only three.”
“He must learn to face his fears. He will not be three forever. And winter is coming.”
Another exchange I just love. Also 10/10 parenting from Ned right there. ‘He must face his fears’ he says about the three year old being scared of the untamed giant wolf pup he just beought home. My lord, that is a toddler.
I like how the Stark’s house words are immediately called out, cause yeah everyone else is talking about themselves in some way, even most of the northern houses. This is Stark specific and I like it.
I like how Ice as family heirloom has been around for about 400 years as opposed to the Starks themselves being like 8,000 years old. It’s ridiculous. They’ve only had this sword for like 5% of their existence.
I would’ve liked to see Ned call the banner to fight beyond Wall.
Imagine your foster father becoming your brother-in-law. That’s gotta be weird, right? Also imagine how jealous Robert must’ve been.
Oh, a Blackfish mention.
Yes. Thank you Cat for understanding that the wolves were an omen. Meanwhile Ned’s just excited that his bestie’s coming to visit.
Ned is just so delighted. Also “an infestation of Lannisters.” He hates those people so much.
