Who’s excited for prompt submissions to open on February 1st? With 23 days left to go, let’s get those brain juices going with a trip down cliché lane for each lad! 

We’ll have four days for each one to throw all the clichés we can think of onto the page. Submissions open and close at 7PM GMT on the dates listed below.

MC Profile / Harry / The Assistant

Thanks so much to Court @heart-attack-harry​ again for tagging me to do this fun little character challenge, and this time for the point of view of my character, Harry, from where I’m currently in my story, The Assistant! This was a lot of fun, I enjoyed picking Harry’s brain hehehe. 

Rules: Choose a few favourite photos/aesthetics of your tagged character, answer the questions below from their point of view and tag some characters/authors you would love to see answer next!

1. How do you display affection? What’s your love language? Well, I don’t think ‘m very good at showin’ affection in general or thru words, but ‘m tryna get betta at it. ‘d reckon I show affection by spendin’ time with that person, through touch like hugs, rubbin’ their back, squeezin’ their hand or arm, ticklin’ ‘em, sumtimes gifts, and ‘specially by payin’ all o’ me attention t’ ‘em when we’re talkin.’ I think I like t’ receive love in any o’ these ways, but quality time and touch ‘specially, which may be surprisin’ t’ some people who know me, and othas not so much. 

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Bloody hell, if I thought ‘bout it long enough, I could come up with a list a mile long. Hmmm, tha thing ‘d like t’ change most ‘bout meself is I wish I wasn’t so scared all tha time, and that ‘d be mo’ willin’ t’ take risks without bein’ afraid o’ it turnin’ out badly. I also wish I was betta at sayin’ what I feel when I feel it. 

3. What’s your ideal Saturday morning? My ideal Saturday mornin’ would start with a cup o’ coffee and prolly a doughnut which ‘ve been likin’ recently with me coffee. Then a nice slow start t’ me mornin’, preferably watchin’ a li’l news or a fav’ tv show, and mos’ likely playin’ guitar at tha same time. I prefer t’ sleep in, but afta so many years o’ wakin’ up at tha crack o’ dawn, I can neva get meself t’ sleep in past like nine, ‘s rubbish. 

4. What is your drink of choice? Non alcoholic? Alcoholic? My drink o’ choice tends t’ be a coffee, and these days, I drink it black. I used t’ like macchiatos and sumtimes I have one, but they’re too sweet sumtimes. I guess ‘m gettin’ old and borin,’ it even shows in how I take me coffee, and how 'm always drinkin’ water. Othawise, I have a tea e’ry once inn’a while. Then if ‘s past five in tha evenin’, sumtimes ‘ll have a few fingas o’ tequila or whiskey, or a mixed drink with eitha. Sumtimes a Guiness ‘s good, and ‘ll take a beer if that’s all me mate has, or those sissy wine coolers I used t’ get Becks. But I try not t’ go too far, ‘cept tha occasional night out with’a mate. Unsurprisingly, Rory always manages t’ get me drunk, I dunno why I keep goin’ out fer drinks with him knowin’ that’s what’ll happen. I had a bit o’ a problem afta Becks left with drinkin’, but I gott’a handle onnit and don’t drink as much anymo’.

5. How competitive are you? Blimey, ‘m far too competitive fer me own good sumtimes. I guess I found tha perfect profession fer it, bein’ a lawyer. I always wanna win me cases, but ‘s humbled me ova tha years o’ practicin’ that ya can’t win ‘em all. Myles eggin’ me on doesn't help eitha, or bloody Rory. ‘s even worse when we work a case togetha, and then we’re mos’ likely buttin’ heads tha whole time, hence why we rarely work togetha onn’a case. 

6. When did you last have sex? Fook, these questions keep gettin’ worse, don’t they? Um, this ‘s gonna take me a while t’ rememba . . . It was prolly a few months befo’ I broke up with Amber. She was always gone towards tha end and we were fightin’, and I jus’ didn’t feel that way ‘bout her anymo’. Fookin’ hell, that’s bleedin’ ova two years ago now, ‘m pathetic. 

7. What is your idea of a perfect date? Um, ‘m not very picky when it comes t’ a date, I don’t think. ‘Course I want it t’ be perfect, ‘specially if ‘s early on in tha relationship. I think a nice dinna out would be nice with some good drinks, but ‘d be happy cookin’ fer sumbody and watchin’ a film on tha sofa togetha. I reckon as long yer comfortable with tha otha person and yer havin’ fun, that’s all that really mattas. I admit I do like t’ impress at first tho’, and take ‘em out for a nice meal. 

8. What is your most treasured possession? ‘d hafta say me most prized possession may be my leather journal that I write in often, but not much lately, unfortunately. I just kinda write whateva’s on me mind or songs ‘ve written, which also reminds me my Gibson acoustic ranks fairly close t’ bein’ me most prized possession. ‘s been with me through a hell o’ a lot and holds loads o’ memories fer me seein’ me late granddad gave it t’ me as it was once his. Becks even tried t’ play it once and my was that hilarious, and fookin’ cute. ‘d sure like t’ see her try it ‘gain.  Lastly, e’ryday I use me li’l pink pig tea infuser Becks got me and I think o’ her e’ry time I see it or use it, no wonder I drink loads o’ tea. 

9. Would you ever get a tattoo? Don’t really hafta answer this one, do I? Seein’ as me entire body ‘s almost covered in ‘em. ‘d definitely like t’ get loads mo’ tho’, like tattoo me kids’ names on me one day when I have some, so they’re always with me. I also recently have been wantin’ t’ get anotha flower thanks t’ a certain sumbody ;) 

10. Do you believe in love at first sight? Have you experienced it? Eh, I dunno ‘bout love at first sight, but I reckon ya can tell loads ‘bout a person from when ya first meet ‘em, like whether you’ll get on or not. Ya can’t tell if you’ll fall in love with ‘em, coz that takes far mo’ than jus’ seein’ ‘em fer tha first time. I do think meetin’ fer tha first time can be tellin’ tho’, and ya sure as hell can tell if yer attracted t’ ‘em from tha first sight o’ ‘em. I think tha closest thing t’ love at first sight ‘ve had was ratha promisin’, and it happens nearly e’ry time I see her too, God. I jus’ knew when I saw Becks fer tha first time there was sumthin’ different ‘bout her, sumthin ‘d been waitin’ me whole bloomin’ life t’ feel, and two years on ‘m still feelin’ it.

Q1: If you could write your character your way in their own movie, what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?

A1: It would probably be called something like “The Ronin of Eorzea”, and it would be something akin to the Chinese Martial Arts films, or perhaps like the Live-action Mulan.

Q2: What would their soundtrack/score sound like?

A2: Close to the Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack or the video game Jade Empire soundtrack. Just very epic, East Asian in tone.

Q3: Why did you start writing this character?

A3: Because I had wanted to create a fully fleshed out WoL OC, despite having played FFXIV for years now, I never written about an OC in the fandom before. I got inspired from watching Memoirs of a Geisha, the TV Series Shogun, and replaying Jade Empire.

Q4: What first attracted you to this character?

A4: Well, I have always wanted to create a Samurai type character for a long time. I also have studied Japanese History and Asian cultures, so I am in love with Kugane and all of the Far Eastern lore, hence why I had Yume originate from there.

Q5: Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.

A5: The one big thing I dislike is despite how confident she is in herself on the battlefield, she is very insecure in herself when she’s not a warrior. It is hard for her to open up to others outside of battle, as in just making friends. She’s just a soft bean underneath and she needs to build her confidence!

Q6: What do you have in common with your muse?

A6: I would say that some aspects of my personality, especially the temper, is in common with Yume. Other than that, we are quite different really.

Q7: How does your muse feel about you?

A7: Uhhhh I guess she likes me cuz I have treated her well after her attempted suicide and exile? Maybe? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Q8: What characters does your muse have interesting interactions with?

A8: The most interesting interactions? Well, Yume is quite protective of Alphinaud and Alisaie like they are her own siblings, and I’ve always been meaning to write something with Yume and the Twins. But what can I say? The most interesting interactions will have to be with Cid and Raha. Cid because she always feels so vulnerable around him, but at the same time, she feels safe with him as well. With Raha, it starts out as annoyance but she quickly sees that he is way more than what he seems on the surface, which eventually she ends up falling in love with him, and complicating her relationship with Cid in the process.

Q9: What gives you inspiration to write your muse?

A9: Playing FFXIV and while I play, I come up with new scenarios and scenes that I’d love to write about. Also, coming in here to Tumblr and seeing all my amazing mutuals and their wonderful muses also greatly inspires me to improve myself in my own writing.

Q10 : How long did this take you to complete?

A10 : Way too damn long... like a little bit at a time for a week? Yeah, if you want to fill this out, just be prepared. I had to do some research for some of these questions.

Any special abilities/skills? he is an omega level telepath. incredibly strong, he can influence people telepathically, levitate, levitate things around him, disassemble things in an instant. he thinks incredibly fast and has definitely stolen your credit card and social insurance number by now, congratulations.

brief background: Quentin Quire was brought to Xaviers school once his parents discovered his mutation. he was aware of his powers enough that he had manipulated them for a time, even after being left at the school. his parents phoned him on his birthday, and informed him of him being adopted. he did not take this well. he ‘snapped’ and began riots at the school, even taking Charles Xavier hostage. he was neutralized after a time, and was dispersed into the collective consciousness of the world.  from there Quentin became bored of being the world, and returned to life with the intent of becoming the Phoenix Force’s host.  now whole, he managed to get on live TV, during a meeting between the X-men and the UN, and made each world leader reveal their most honest secrets to the world... obviously he quickly became the most hated mutant the world over.  after being forced to go through school under Wolverines tutoring, he graduated and joined the West Coast Avengers.  that didn’t last long, as soon as Krakoa was open to mutants, Quentin fled to be among his own kind, seemingly happy, now that he is on the X-force.

How has your character been maintaining his/her/themselves since the comeback of the decimated?  Quentin didn’t even know much of this was happening, but he certainly would have found amusement in it. 

If a mutant, what are your characters feelings about the human hesitation to accept the offer?  He feels they’ve been given their chance, and now that they’ve given themselves like this, he doesn’t really care for humans much, preferring to keep them as worshippers, or an excuse to express dominance over them. 

Does your character have any ill-feelings or good thoughts about the Registration Act? He doesn’t really care, as he thinks he’s far too powerful to worry about being registered... plus he’s very anti-government.

Q1 : If you could write your character your way in their own movie,  what would it be called,  what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?          

A1 :  It would be interesting to put Avy in a Film Noir like movie though she isn’t normally a detective it would be fun to see her in such a roll, “Amon Stole Zel’s Sweetroll.”( she is a baker after all) totally a working title for a possible odd heist movie, it’s definatly not serious.

Q2 :  What would their soundtrack/score sound like?          

A2 :  Probably anything stringed instrumental that would fit the mood of a wanderer.

Q3 :  Why did you start writing this character?          

A3 : I’d blame having gone to Mateus at all with my Avwalya alt, visiting @seeker-of-sights wedding, and going to @yuki-yukichan ‘s house warming kicked off my RP writing in ffxiv, and it has just kept on rolling from there.

Q4 :   What first attracted you to this character?          

A4 : I made her as she is because that was what my previous firran Avwalya character from Arche Age was like. Only difference is my previous character was a Paladin, albeit with a short spear and shield.

Q5 :  Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.

A5 :  She usually internalizes her grievances but doesnt really give them an outlet per say, even with everything she doesn’t usually share these, except with those she is very close with.

Q6 :  What do you have in common with your muse?          

A6 :   I`d say we share some personality traits though she differs in some ways.

Q7 :   How does your muse feel about  you?          

A7 :   She would probably wonder why do I take so many pictures of her.

A8 :  She definatly has interesting interactions with other adventurers and bards, she tends to act as a guide to others, or likes to gather information from various peoples she meets.

Q9 :  What gives you inspiration to write your muse ?        

A9 : She’s a good influence to those around her, trying to keep them positive and in the moment while she herself thinks ahead to keep her companions safe and entertained, basically i love that she brings a form of happiness to others.

A10 : Too Long probably an hour or two.

What was your character like as a baby? As a child?:  As a baby, she was really quiet. She didn’t cry much or fuss. As a child, she was shy but curious. She’d follow Rhea into whatever adventure she found for them.

Did they grow up rich or poor?:  Rich, until they moved to Vesuvia.

Did they grow up nurtured or neglected?:  Nurtured.

What is the worst thing they did to someone they loved?:  She tried to end her marriage with her husband a few months in because she had foreseen a terrible future in one of her premonitions -and wanted to save him. But it hadn’t been their’s she’d seen. He’d died shortly after and never got to take it back.

What are their ambitions?:  To take care of the people and rebuild her kingdom.

What smells remind them of their childhood?:  As she’s super sensitive to smell, she’s highly aware of scents similar to her parents. Scents of lillies and pine are a big one.

What was their childhood ambition?: Become an ambassador to represent Moonsea on the outside.

What is their best childhood memory?:  Shortly after becoming blind and learning how to focus her other senses, Rhea had taken it upon herself to cover the room in every flower she could manage to grow inside. We’re talking about covered in roses, lilacs, snapdragons, you name it. Rhea brought each one to Adara and let her touch and smell them.

Q1 : If you could write your character your way in their own movie,  what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?          

A1 :  Shit, I dunno. Give her a superhero movie. Patty Jenkins, I’m calling, please pick up.

Q2 :  What would their soundtrack/score sound like?          

A2 :  Anything by Hole or the Donnas.

Q3 :  Why did you start writing this character?          

A3 : I fucking love warrior women. I also wanted this version of Catelyn to be warmer and kinder than some of her previous incarnations, but not without her own baggage and troubles. I like matching a character’s story to their ingame class or profession, so moving Catelyn from her original job of Dragoon to Monk has been kind of fun.

Q4 : What first attracted you to this character?          

A4 : She’s the kind of person I wish I were. Her focus and determination are traits I admire. I’m also a big fan of tropes like warrior priests, found families, exiles, etc., so those have remained a constant across her iterations. Also interested in writing someone whose faith in a deity is very real.

Q5 : Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.

A5 : Some glaring similarities to stories in the game. I always worry she’s too derivative, and lacks cohesion/focus. Some of the flaws present in her Warcraft self are missing here, and I hope that doesn’t damage her depth.

Q6 : What do you have in common with your muse?          

A6 : Stubbornness and loyalty.

Q7 : How does your muse feel about you?          

A7 : I think she’d want me to improve myself, and in improving myself improve my life. Plus, you know, “STOP PROCRASTINATING.”

A8 :  I really, really want her to interact with more Ala Mhigans. She’s been separated from her own people for a fairly long time.

A9 : Wonder Woman, Samus Aran, Jeanne D’Arc, Lyse Hext (as a foil), Asha Greyjoy, Tifa Lockheart. Music helps too.
