Character Thumbnails

Out of all of the thumbnails in the previous post, these are the character thumbnails I have chosen to work with.  From left to right the characters are: Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Lion Man and then the Tin Man. 

I chose these designs because of their attractive shapes and contrast with each other in terms of shape and form.

CHARACTER THUMBNAILS

For the character thumbnails I drew 8 figures for each of the four characters. 

The designs (from top to bottom) include the ‘Lion Man’, ‘The Tin Man’, ‘Dorothy’, and ‘The Scarecrow’. 

I tried to make the designs with varying shapes to explore what I thought might suit each character. Though I felt that my Dorothy designs were too similar. 

For this exercise I used Adobe Photoshop and a Bamboo tablet. I used the pencil tool and eraser tool interchangeably with varying opacities to create the effect above. 

At first I struggled to come up with interesting and varying deigns but as I progressed through the designs I found I was making them slightly quicker. 

Some designs I do not think would be suitable for the animation, however some I like the look of and will enjoy mixing them and improving the designs. 

I will focus my designs on DOROTHY and the LION MAN.
