Danny clung onto Phoebe, as he had done as soon as he’d seen her, afraid to let her go in case she disappeared again and turned out to be a figment of his imagination. After almost losing her once before, to come so close for a second time almost shattered his heart completely. “You have no idea how worried I was,” Danny told her, his voice slightly muffled due to his face being buried in Phoebe’s soft hair. “I really do think I’d be nothing without you. I was so scared I’d never see you again. I was so scared that you wouldn’t have known that– well, that I don’t just like you. I love you.”

Danny smiled and took one of Phoebe’s hands in his. “You deserve it. Just a little time to yourself, without having to worry about anyone else. You have no idea how happy it makes me, seeing a smile on your face.”

“Of course you can,” Danny replied, perhaps a little too quickly, and he stepped aside to let Phoebe in. His eyes were trained on her face the entire time, and when she was inside the house he took hold of her hand softly and looked at her closely. “Is there something wrong, Phe?”
