the da fandom right now: omg that character has flaws, they're so fucking horrible!! why are they not perfect or a saint or something?
Do people not realize that when you have a character and when pressed to describe them, you cannot think of one flaw, negative trait or even an annoying habit they have that is actually a BAD thing? Like, that's not exactly an indication of great writing.
People are complex and three dimensional and there is no one on this blue Earth that does not possess flaws, no matter how kind, generous or amazing they are at their core, and that needs to be reflected in a narrative. People need flaws to be interesting, to be rich, to be people. Hard to have character development if there's nothing to develop on or from. No, that's not an attack or an excuse to hate on a character, that's a valid criticism.
