sometimes i am truly beboggled by the size of the fish we catch
looka this bad boy i just got:
[id: screenshotted text from final fantasy 14. it reads: you land a problematicus measuring 1029.5 ilms! data on the problematicus is added to your fish guide. /end id]
an ilm is an inch, so this is around 87 feet long. if you, like me, have difficulty visualizing measurements, maybe this will help put that into perspective:
[id: screenshot of a google search for "87 foot long animal". a top result reads: What animal is 80 feet long? The average size of a blue whale is around 80 feet (24 meters) long, with the largest recorded blue whale measuring in at 110 feet (33.5 meters) long. To put that into perspective, that's longer than a basketball court and almost as long as a Boeing 737 airplane. /end id]
charging thunder just. hauling this fucking leviathan out of the magma and. putting it in her bag. i guess? sure
also the fish guide description for problematicus is really fucking good and i must include it.
[id: screenshotted text from the final fantasy 14 fish guide entry for problematicus. it reads: problematicus. level 60 three-star. magma. when this particular specimen was presented at a naturalist symposium for classification, the day ended in a flurry of fisticuffs following a heated argument over whether it was not merely a fake stitched together in a cluttered study. the following day the claims were voted baseless and the wavekin received its new official name. /end id]
it's icon & portrait suggests it's some kind of lava-based basking shark. basking sharks typically only reach 8 feet in length in the real world, by comparison. and i wonder if the size of the fish is related to zone level at all. i started filling out my fish guide starting with realm reborn/lv 50 content, and i am getting close to finishing out heavensward at this point. i might be wrong (i doubt it) but problematicus is the biggest fish i've caught so far. the sizes in endwalker zones must be absolutely ridiculous if the sizes keep getting bigger o_o
anyway. thanks for reading my fish thoughts. :D
[id: screenshot from videogame final fantasy 14. charging thunder, a female roegadyn, grins and holds her endwalker fisher relic rod triumphantly in front of an extra large canvas housing item. it depicts a rough impression of a curled basking shark (problematicus), an aquatic animal with a wide gaping maw. /end id]
