Unfortunately for Queen, Chrollo could see her, to feel her thanks to En and the cadence of her voice so sinuous, caressing and alluring. The man licked his lips as he turned the page of the book he held in his hands as she spoke, the girl showed once again what was poisonous the venom there was on the tip of the tongue, which darted between her scarlet lips, dyed with the same color of blood. But, even his hands were stained! Who was he to judge Queen?
He looked up and his silver eyes met those gold of young woman who shone in a sinister light. A smile curled Chrollo’s lips, before returning again to read the pages streaked with black ink. “Don’t tease me.” he said as soon as she closed her mouth. “You’re not the type who visits a friend and we never being friends.”
Were they rivals? He did not know well define what kind of relationship they had, but whatever kind it was, maybe it had no name. “Tell me why you’re here, what you’re looking for and what you want and let’s end this slapstick comedy.”
His calm and yet dangerous facade was as refreshing as ever, it being a welcome change from the mundane and the restful, the terrified and the pathetic, that followed her wherever she went, brought upon by the unmistakable incandescence of her vaguely angelic deadliness. She had to admit that the lack of attention he gave her, the lack of care that he chose to adopt -- or more specifically, not adopt -- in the face of her nightshade grace was both faintly challenging and amusing; he was blatant in his dismissal, but oh, she knew she could break him given the opportunity and the room.
But a queen was humble, and she recognized that perhaps, today, tonight, it would not be as easily attainable a goal as the virile depths of her deceitful mind whispered to her. But tonight was not to play -- tonight was reserved for the careful set up of the game itself, the pawns in place, the queen controlling all from her side. One would not play with no pieces, after all.
"Teasing?" she said with a quiet giggle, sweet and innocent. "How cute, ne~"
One step closer, toeing the line between careful and careless. "Curiosity can be a powerful mistress, you'll find, Chrollo Lucifer. So powerful that it may coax one less in control to give in to their impulses. Don't you agree, ne~?" A tilt of her head. "I was...curious."
