Post-gen2 Lachesis/Azelle ala stone resurrection or Altenna/Finn
Ooh.
Well, Lachesis/Azelle is a delightful little crack pairing so if she spent time as statue while he also spent time as a statue or was “sleeping” in the basement thanks to Manfroy… yes, that could be off-kilter cute. Not sure where to take it ‘cause it’d be like the reverse of Awakening/Fates with young parents dropping in on their technically-adult kids.
Altena/Finn on the other hand is a minefield albeit one that’s produced some very nice fanart over the years. In between their big scene in FE4 and that line in “Leonster’s Fall” about Finn being Altena’s “playmate” instead of her guardian it’s like the devs laid the groundwork to make it passable in the same sense that Oifey/Fee is acceptable (or Haar/Jill tbh), so I’m not going to bother defending myself over the fact that I know where said cute fanart is. But, we got some problems here.
1) Age gap of easily 15 years + life experience, which isn’t insurmountable but ain’t trivial either. And I’ve seen J!fandom try to pretend it’s more like… a twelve-year gap… to which I say a) I C Whut U Did There and b) I really doubt Quan dragged a twelve-year-old into battle.
2) Altena loves and respects Travant even after the Big Reveal, which canonically tears up her heart. Finn hates Travant and probably played a direct, personal role in killing him. This is an actual problem.
3) Altena is the mistress of a holy weapon with a curse, and that curse appears to be tied up in the whole Dain/Nova family feud which resolves via Altena/Arion, I guess, thank you Kaga for leaving this one an ambiguous mess. Regardless, given what actually happened to Crusader Nova and the knight guy she was married to, the likely fated outcome of Altena/Finn involves some kind of awful accident with the Gae Bolg.
Yeah, weighing this against Lachesis/Azelle isn’t apples-to-apples. It’s more like apples vs fugu blowfish. Anyone for sushi? :)
